it's a bloody joke that's what it is. they thought to please everybody, but like every bureaucrat in existence, they end up ruining the whole thing. so why bother to win the CL? let us concentrate on the EPL and just qualify for the CL. you may even get more TV money that way...

Because by winning the CL, the team gets approx 50M. If qualify and lose in the group stages, at most got 20M only. Of cause they're running the whole thing. CL is organised by UEFA. They run the show and the show must go on. :sweatsm:

I agree with you that recoba is no longer the player he used to be. But Riquelme......i think he is better than garcia and kewell. He scored a superb goal against Brazil and run the whole midfield show......against Ronaldinho, kaka and company! Aimar was keep on the bench to accomodate him. This shows his quality. The only doubt is his physical strength to make it in England.

It will the a huge joke if .."touch wood.." Liverpool lost it first qfy round!!!!!!
AND damn embarrassing !!!

The European champions are expected to make it thru the group stages at least. Porto almost din make it last season. It will be a disgrace if a Euro champ fail to make it thru the group stage.

it would be embarassing if liverpool falls in qualifying but not impossible. we are in the process of rebuilding the team and if we make significant changes, we may not gel in time.

actually i don't think recoba is bad at all. he's not been playing often and that's mainly becos inter has adriano, vieri and martins. even that, he had 2 goals in 8 games (only 2 starts) so that isn't too bad. riquelme and aimar are both great players but dunno if they robust enough. definitely cost more too. but both young and good potential. i think baptista has good potential to make it in the epl. he's bigger and more robust. but sure damn ex one.

anyway, all we can do now is hope that rafa can get the team ready, strenghten the current squad as much as possible and get those guys fired up. we need fighting spirit man!

ot: http://karma2.karmadownload.com/track/dudek.html?21125 you get a preview of "du the dudek". quite catchy. maybe will buy it :)

think biscan leaving is not official yet. is he gonna link up with monsieur houllier?

why would he? houllier nearly killed his career. i hope biscan stays at least one more season to prove his worth. and it's dumb to let him go for free.

'It's too late for Liverpool' - UEFA chief

A UEFA executive committee member believes it is too late to change the rules to accommodate holders Liverpool into next season's Champions League.

Rule is to follow...but when it comes to conflict situation..and does not make sense..It should be reviewed and changed.

For those committee and those who think Rule is rule and rule is meant to follow and can;t change into any situation....u have to eat humble pie now.

The fact is that UEFA is changing the rule.

Although it may not be in Liverpool favour (to play from the 1st qualifying round), at least they do make common sense to change the rule...and let Liverpool in.

Of course Liverpool has to choice to choose to play in CL or UEFA Cup.

But the preference is very obvious.....

LFC management has to focus on re-schedule the pre-seasons matches..and RAfa has to work extremely hard on getting back the player in fit condition and probably very busy in transfer market and to sort out which current players are not in the future plans..

i managed to view the european cup finals ones... at the bottom...

Real Madrid will test Sir Alex Ferguson's resolve to keep Cristiano Ronaldo this summer by offering £10m-plus Michael Owen for him.

:bsmilie:

I think Glazer want to take beckham back to MU. So to promote MU merchant in US....May be Real can offer cash + beckham for Ronaldo.

So Real will have 2Ronaldo... :bsmilie:

:bsmilie:

Thats a very good deal. Cool! But 1 little prob. Man Utd got too many strikers. If United dun have Alan Smith and Saha, i think Alex will go for it. It will be nice to see Becks back but Alex is unlikely to want him.

Lennart Johansson has admitted UEFA made a mistake in not having a rule in place which meant the Champions League winners could automatically defend their trophy.

For those who do not think that Liverpool, who is defending champion but fail to qualify, should deserve an automatic place in group stage....

U all now have to admit mistake...like what UEFA President did....

Hurray...March on Liverpool in 2005/2006.

Actually I am eyeing for EPL coming season. Hope the extremely packed pre-season (friendly and CL qualifying matches) will not make our player too exhausted or injured...

yes....... we can defend the tittle next season.....

The real winner is acutally the English FA. Look at the bigger picture, they're now demanding that Man City to takeover pool UEFA cup spot.

Spend no money, make some noise and help 2 English clubs earn more money. :sweatsm:

But the pressure is now on liverpool. All eyes will be on them now that they're in CL after this saga. Since the inception of CL, no champion failed to make it pass the group stages.

hope we can get him to stay.

btw, is it sure that biscan is leaving? no official news from liverpoolfc.tv yet, only in media watch section got say this.

yeah I really hope he stays. Especially now that we have so many games to play in the next season. I feel that he is a little like Hamann who is able to play in front of the back 4 and when Hamann retires, he is the one to take over.
