houllier isn't that bad.

but he has really taken Liverpool to the 'furtherest' he ever could.

Lyon is another team in another league. they were champions and have been playing well and together for a while. how bad could he changed it? he can't do a ranieri to it like what ranieri did to Valencia! hahaha:bsmilie:

actually hor what ranieri did to valencia is ot as bad as what souness did to liverpool.... thats what i feel...

bingo!

7th placing and a couple of dodgy signings!! mickey thomas?! nigel clough(ok, he's prety decent but a very slow player)?!
now newcastle lost another game! and mickey mouse is out injured.

and he said that he'll be fine for World Cup and i can't help but feel shortchanged for the Magpies!! :bsmilie:

Crouch is a goal scoring machine!

well done reds! this is a good run and it is heartening to see them play the way they have been playing. for the first time in as long as i can remember, you can actually feel that we can win the match, even when we were held at 0-0. used to be gritting my teeth whenever we came across a determined opponent. glad to see the lads creating real openings and not just ye ol' loft it and hope.if only we can be a little more clinical and make most of our chances, we need to be able to kill off an opponent even if we have one or two chances.
next few matches are key. bolton away, spurs, man utd at old trafford, birmingham then chelsea away. hope we can get full points (sorry afbug but we need the points :) )
happy new year reds fans (and afbug).

2-2 draw against Bolton

not bad considering we were twice behind.
but on looking back, lousy and cheap goals to concede. Bolton is definitely a tough nut to crack at the Reebok n they are a very physical side.

i thought jaidi had a good game against Crouch. :(

Chelski is running away...

Happy new year. Sorry for being late. :) No sweat man! You want points, try to wrestle them from us. :bsmilie: But Man Utd got a hat trick of tough games. Away to Arsenal, away to Man City, then home to Liverpool. Your best bet is hope that Arsenal and Man C soften Utd up. Chelsea is like that Durcell rabbit. Goes on and on and on. When will they run out of juice?

sissoko dont play well in most game still use him, can't yhink of it.

bad tackles poor ball control.

you never walk alone

Bolton is overly physical, that's what they always do when they aren't that good a team.
now i can feel the frustration of opposing teams facing el hadji diouf. this guy sure can earn free kicks! the referee is lousy, period.

but am still glad we clawed back after twice goin behind to lousy and sloppy goals.

Totally agree! Bolton and Everton are 2 physical side which Liverpool during the past few years have trouble beating.... Rather than let their feet do the talking, they rather let their body do so...

Reina is starting to show a lack of concentration in this game... It is time he 'wake' up a little bit...

First goal is definitely his fault cos he let the ball bounce and even though hypia wanted to clear it, he can't do so properly cos Reina also going for the ball.

As for the second goal, i think to a certain extent, the linesman didn't see the offside and Traore was slow in reacting thus allowing diouf to get in front of him. Reina was to a certain at fault as well for this cos he should have anticipated the cross and punch out the ball....

Well, even though that is the case, Liverpool's fight back spirit is there and thats the most important thing when you are losing.

Kudos!

Just don't understand Benitez sometimes, West Brom definitely a weaker team than Bolton, but fields Alonso, Cisse, Garcia and Riise from the start, and we domminated that game so totally, and the only reason we didn't score more goals was because their goalie was having an awesome game. Than against Bolton, puts on Traore, Sissoko and Pongole??? I think we were very luck to get a draw. Brought on Allonso, Garcia and Cisse tooooo late.

Kewel seems to be coming into form, but, in the Bolton game, a few times should have passed, but went for goal from very tough angles instead, a bit selfish.

Luckily ManU drew their game last week, so still sort of on par with them. Hopefuly they draw or loose to Arsenel this week. :D

Think the chase for 1st place is over, but 2nd is good, from a Champions league perspective.

I agree that Liverpool were lucky to salvage a draw against Boreton. I also think that they must be getting rather tired by now, so some major squad rotation was necessary. Isn't this the third match in seven days? As a football watcher, I am happy to see them working hard for the money :)

I believe Benitez was worried about the physical nature of the game against Bolton, hence he tried to put in the tough tacklers in, though this season Alonso looks like he is also quite effective in that role.

Considering our league placing and the points gap last year, finishing second and nearer in terms of points gap would be a good improvement :)

wasn't surprised rafa put in a tough defensive side. bolton is a rugged (ie bloody cheating!!!) team and last season, players like garcia and xabi would have been bowled over in a minute. they are tougher now but rafa probably didn't want to take the risk.
it was nice seeing the lad fight back like that. they didn't give up or get frustrated despite the gamesmanship of bolton players. i had flashbacks if last season when we were down after 1 half. last season's team would have rolled over and died. instead we put in a stronger performance and outdid the hosts for most of the second. 2 points lost sucks but i'm proud of this performance.
next season, the team would be even better and we'll show bolton how football is meant to be played.

wonder if diouf was wearing bowling shoes instead of soccer boots. that's the only reason i can think of for him to keep falling over whenever he was caught in the gravitic field of any nearby liverpool player.

You bet! Souness is prob, no, definitely the worst manager in Liverpool's history. His signings are legendary! Haha...

As for Houllier, i think he has the quality to produce the results but he lost the trust of his players towards the end. Players he signed like Diouf, Cheyrou and Diao etc, he did not play them and that costs us 20m pounds....

Also, during his reign, even when we are winning the 5 cups etc, we still play far too negatively. the football isn;t good. IIRC, his liverpool team also make a few history in terms of losses, no-scoring etc....

Jaidi had a good game becos the referee is too lenient on him. He must have pushed or knocked Crouch to the floor at least 10 times and yet no booking for him.

I think Crouch is still too soft.. kinda like heskey, which is not a good thing. I just wish Crouch will bulk up a bit , ala big Dunc, will be good!

Hmmmm.... a beefed-up Crouch. Should be built like Michael Jordan, both are 6ft 7in :bsmilie:

I think Benitez didn't play Alonso and Garcia because he knows Bolton is a physical side. So he thought the 2 of them might be at a disadvantage in this game. Well, not everytime you plan goes into play. So I am glad at least we didn't lose. We are not Chelsea yet...gameplan don't work still heng heng can win.;p

Chelski is really... the luck of the champions la!

when ur sub bench has Shaun Wright-Phillips, Hernan Crespo, Joe Cole... etc.etc... wow... but Mourinho is a good manager albeit a very loud one! :bsmilie:

Com'on u REDS!! push Chelski all the way!

something funny to share:

Not The Woody We Know
According to the Sunday Mirror, Jonathan Woodgate has spent longer in bed with a lucky young lass than he has on the football field in the past 18 months.
Reminiscing about her FIVE-HOUR sex romp, Ms Victoria Cooper claims: "He is superfit and just kept going and going."
She must have got the wrong man.
