I think Pellegrino was signed to provide short term cover and also "teach" the younger defenders a thing or two about zonal marking. Of cos, his lack of pace really exposed his failings during his time at Liverpool.

Rafa likes to give people chance if he believes they are trying and working hard and willing to put in the effort for the team. Having said that, he will replace the player if they are not performing after some time.

1) Henchoz - attitude (this may have happened off the pitch or during training)
2) Pellegrino - willing to play him, he failed as a good-enough defender for EPL and Rafa let him go without extending him at all
3) Crouch - supported him despite his lack of goals and clumsy play during his early Pool games
4) Cisse - no matter whether he is the top Pool scorer or the best striking talent or the fastest player around, he is not going to start if he sulks and refuse to play according to instructions.
5) Traore - Rafa wanted to sell him but Traore pleaded and was willing to play any position. Rafa like this attitude and kelp him.

Some people think that Rafa favours his Spanish armada. But this is clearly not so if he thinks they do not fit his requirement.

1) Nunez - shipped out even though he was a decent right winger for most of his time here
2) Pellegrino - no need to drink expensive sparkling water, so out he went
3) Josemi - played him for a series of games; not better than Finnan, Rafa switched to Finnan as a more permanent right back for us.
4) Morientes - what a pedigree, Spanish some more.... but he does not start every game. Only striker that is almost always on the team sheet..... Crouch (a clangy Englishman).
yeah... i don't think he favours spanish but the spanish players are much better value for money as Barca and Real are the only 2 big clubs in spanish league that can pays good money and they are signing brazilians etc...

I can't imagine how much would morientes, alonso or garcia costs if they were english.... just see how much players like rio, rooney, SWP, dyer etc was bought for.

Not only english players cost more, some of them are over rated and doesn't justify for their price tag

a certain Rio comes to mind.

Actually Assien is way too over priced compared to Sissoko.

essien is over-rated and is a big time dingdong in the making.

vinny jones comes to mind. he he he... however, he's a more 'cultured' and 'technical' version.

did u say Rio? ouch!

Dunno consider OT anot, juz found out from Pool official web pg that Rafa's dad has passed away.

Gotta salute his professionalism, he choose to stay behind with the team till the tournament is over.

Chelsea will get thrashed by a rampant Ronaldinho led Barcelona, anyone?

The way they beautifully dismantled Real Madrid was just too tough to watch for Madrid fans.

It would be sweet if Barcelona put a end to the Chelski CL dream, considering what chelski did to them :bsmilie:

 Benifica... At least better than getting RM:thumbsup:

Everlose down by 4 goals at home to Bolton!:o

simply blitzed apart!

Real Madrid is over-hyped.:bsmilie:

i wanna kill that ref, 3 goals behind net not counted, last min penatly don,t give.

first 2 goals off side,ok, but the last goal not off side, and penalty should be given.

we didn't play well in the first half...
:(

its an amazing second half performance from Liverpool. Sao Paulo totally outclassed.

17corners, 20 over shots and no goals! 3 in the net, all 'OFFSIDE'? and 1 penalty, not given?!
the referee is from Mexico and i felt that we're hard done by! this referee is 100% outright KELONG!:thumbsd: :thumbsd:

but personally, very gutted. the boys played fantastically well in the second half.

well, welcome to the other side of brazillian football. never liked the brazillian teams cos they are bloody cynical and the fake fouls and injuries like siao.

but while i am sad, in a way i'm glad. we need to lose a match sooner or later and this one is probably the least crucial compared to the next few games we have. i'm sure the record and the winning streak must be weighing quite heaviliy on the players minds and they may get distracted. what i hope now is that we can bounce back immediately. the lads played superbly despite the loss and they have no reason to lose any confidence in themselves. now that we got the loss out of the way, let's win the remaining matches of the season

I am proud of the lads and they will never walk alone!!

ya! they are OSCARS nominees, all of them! touch and they fly 360 in the air like JOE COLE!:thumbsd:

it's good to see the boys been so positive and man, what a second half performance!!

You'll Never Walk Alone!!

Referee eat $! Goal liao then raise flag. Sleeping on job or been told to? :thumbsd:

Didn't get to watch the match but was sad to find out Pool lost in such a manner.
