Guy, please make sure that the 4GB card is compatible with 5D/ 7D.
Read thoroughly the user manual again.
If I'm not wrong, 5D/ 7D only compatible 2GB the maximum.

I had been using 4Gbytes CF card and 8Gbytes Micro Drive for quite sometime already.

Confirm works with 7D... just tried with a 4GB Transcend 120X CF card... no reason why the 5D will not work with such a card being newer...
