i was so careful to do my homework before buying the card and yet i made this mistake. :( i have asked varioius sources and everyone said the ixus 800 could take the high speed card. i do take lots of video clips so i thought the high speed card would best suit my n the digicam needs. :( :( :(

have not bought the 800 yet .... no stock

The ixus 800 should have no problems using the high speed card, and help in the write speed/recording of the video into the card as per my previous post, since this was the only recording function that seemed laggy to me when i used the ixus with the normal speed card.

I'm just saying it may not offer any noticable speed increase in the other functions of photo taking or reviewing. Everything is already almost instantanuous :)

the offer is STILL ON at EastGear. Lexar 133X SD at $99.

Any idea where to get the Lexar 133x 2G CF, and how much would it cost?

I don't see it anywhere selling except Alan Photo Sim Lim Sq level 1.

Actually Transcend 150x is cheaper at $83 at Memory World. Or A-Data 150x also slightly cheaper, i saw at $91. Think all these 3 got Lifetime warranty.

Pardon me for my ignorance but where is Eastgear?

Cool! Where is memory world? At Funan? Which brand is more reputable and reliable in terms of speed. I use to own Sandisk CF cards. Lexar 80X and Ultra II on par but need to change to SD format because of new camera.

Thanks!

i emailed Memory World, no response from them.

They are located at SLS and Funan, both also shopfronts that sell cards? Same price?

Is the offer from Eastgear still on? I checked their website and it now says $179.

was at Eastgear few days back, the lexar 133x sd card is still selling at $99. Just call them up to confirm.

$99 offer still available. Got mine yesterday
Guess what - I paid with my cc as there wasn't any surcharge!!

I think the ixus 800 will work just fine with a normal speed SD card. I had used mine with a normal speed, and everything worked very fast and zippy.

Perhaps the only improvement in speed will come from the saving of video clips into the memory card. I noticed the ixus always needs a few seconds to save the clips after you stop shooting the video.

Ixus does not have raw mode, so it does not benefit as much from the high speed cards.

In other words, as long as the camera does not use RAW mode, there is not much benefit from using HI-Speed SD card right ?

:dunno:
