Alternative Photography...
Lensbaby on Infrared

Like many of the experienced shooters before me, I have also recently been drawn to the (almost tilt-shift) effects of the Lensbaby.
It is, in its very nature and very much like IR, an alternative photography. And when used together with IR photos, I felt that it brings out (again the use of the cliche word) the surreality of the scene.

Well... I hope it works.
Do let me know if it doesn't work that well, as I am very new to Lensbaby and I am learning and struggling to harness its potential, and to emulate what I see has been done by all the great IR and Lensbaby shooters here.

Thanks, Ladies and Gentlemen.

Erm... let's just see.
This is the 535nm IR with Lensbaby Control Freak at f/4.0 aperture disc.

Why, thank you so much Lydialee! I think that's what the (almost) tilt shift effects of Lensbaby is all about. Miniaturization is most apparent when shot from an elevated vantage point... Hey, I am still very new and inexperience... and I'm still trying to play around. Hahaha...

And here we were standing from the Skypark of Vivocity. (Is it called Skypark? Correct?)
And here I really played with the post processing.
Of course, the Lensbaby effect is the basis upon which I played around.. but I dragged more colours out of my 535nm and I invariably over-cooked the Lensbaby effect... er.. sorry... ;)...

And yah.. new toys.. thanks to Ah Chua, SurrealDreamWalker, Campoes and several other IR shooters who have been sooooo powerful in dispensing their intoxicating potion!

hkingx, thank you so much for your encouragement!
I am really testing out only. Merely testing out...

We er... while up at Mt Faber, turned to the other side of the ridge facing the Telok Blangah estate.
And finding a clearing in the foliage, took a shot of the HDB buildings below the hill.

It was bright and shiny all over outside. But strangely, once I walked under its leaves it was as though it has wrapped itself around me.
And it was dark, shady and... a little gloomy suddenly all around.
I shot it like the way it should appear... eerie. ;)

Nice and refreshing series! :D

Fantastic shots... real poison for me to get that Lensbaby Composer Pro :) I got a Nikkor 24mm TS-E already but its kindy heavy to have with me everywhere....

Thank you so much for your compliments, Adnix!
It was my first go at the 535nm again after a long hiatus. As it goes along, I am trying to adopt varying style of post processing on the IR photos and I have found the 535nm to be very suitable as I can derive quite a lot of colours from them. Depending on what style of IR shooter one is, if one prefers a much toned-down version of IR photography, then the multi-coloured ones are not that appealing.. haha..
But still, I think it's all worth a try.

I personally found the TSE-24 (Canon) to be a little cumbersome to use. Of course, my slowness is definitely because of my inexperience with the lovely T/S lens. But I found the Lensbaby Control Freak more spontaneous and smaller and easier to carry around. I realised that in terms of sharpness and image quality, there is a definite difference. But nothing that cannot be overcome through post processing.

Edit: after going out for a while and coming back, I realize what I said about '.. Overcome through post processing...' part was not entirely correct. What a T/S lens can achieve in image quality and perspective control cannot be completely replicated by neither post processing nor a Lensbaby. Each holds it's own rights.

Whoa! Nice wild colors! I'm waiting for a modded Pentax body to be available in B&S for IR with LB. :( Now next you should get the tilt adapter from LB. Then slap on a wide Nikon lens on it ... and ... ;)

ndroo, thank you so much for coming on board and giving me your compliments!
The Lensbaby Tilt-shift adapter is only for Nikon, Nex and some other mounts, but not for Canon mount.
So I can't help but sit tight and hope that one day they will come up with that.
It would be really a dream come true for me when they do that.
