Lens upgrade for E-P5

Traditionally the "50mm F1.8" focal length & aperture in most camera system are cheapest of the batch. And they are cheaper than the Oly lens

If you're referring to canon's 50/1.8, well that is definitely the cheapest. Sharp lens but the AF noisy and damn too slow. Its not even in the league of oly

Not only Canon, other lens manufacturer like Sony & Nikon also offer their 50F1.8 lenses much cheaper than Oly 25F1.8 (50mm eq) Hence that is the reason I say the Oly lens is one of the more expensive lens for that focal range.

So the 25mm focal length usefull ma.?

Hmm, I wouldn't be bothered with price comparisons across brands simply for the fact that the 25/1.8 outperforms quite a lot of these other cheap 50mms.

Whether useful or not I think this really depends on your shooting habits & your preferred focal length. The 25/1.8 is very capable of giving u very good shots with the same IQ levels as the 45/1.8.

In film days the 50mm is often the "kit lens"

As I don't own the 25F1.8 lens, hence I would reserve my comment on it's IQ. I do own a couple of m43 primes (25F1.4 , 45F1.8, etc) Typically because of the smaller sensor of the m43 system, it easier (compared to FF) to get edge to edge sharpness.
