Lens to use for Pageant event?

Just doing a simple amateur coverage of a pageant event held indoors.
Currently using a d5000. with external flash.
will like some recommendations on lens that i can use for the event. may be thinking of renting.

depends where you are shooting from. A wide angle if up close and short tele if some distance.

paragon show at 85mm without flash.

35mm 1.8 if its low light could be possible

depend on where u standing at, and what u demand from ya shots....

eg:70-200, 300, 400, if u are at a distance...

24, 35, 50, 85, 24-70, 17 55, if u are quite near...

hmmm okies..thanks for the suggestions and advices =)
actually im not very sure of the details and venue of shoot. just figured it'll probably be in low lighting.
maybe prime will be good.hmm
