Hi bros...

sorry to disturb you guys...

I have a new 50mm cron. When fitted to my M9, I cant seem to be able to get sharp images.

How to check if its a problem with lens, RF alignment or my lousy skills?
:dunno:

Sensor alignment is out on the M9!!! (just kidding....:bsmilie::bsmilie:)
I supposed you need to compare it with another camera or with friend.

evil dr... his heart probably just dropped.

under a "controlled" environment, you should be able to eliminate your skills... best to use a focusing chart and an eye piece magnifier to help.

for checking on alignment, it is difficult to know if it is due to the lens or the rangefinder if you only have one camera and one lens. best to have at least another lens to compare to.

but before all of that, just want to confirm that you're checking on your computer screen, and not the read LCD...

i don't have an M9 ...but here's my general troubleshooting :

a) can you set your lens to infinity focal length and shoot a picture ? (is it sharp or blur?)
(it shouldnt be blur)

b) sorry to sound ignorant...is this the first time you're using rangefinder lens?

maybe post a few pictures for more folks to comment.
cheers!

Get a good tripod. Nothing but an old Gitzo (must be made in france)

Do you have this issue with your other lenses?
If no, it could be the lens.

Drop by chiif...he should be able to test for you.

Doctor, Doctor can't you see I'm burning, burning! (Song):bsmilie:

Sharpness comes from the lens. The body is a make-up, max-factor touch up. Try another lens to check. If not, go to the shop to try. Is there any blur patch on the image> Is the blur unsharpness gradual?

What the heck guys?

Do a controlled examination/experiment with your M9.

- Check your camera and lens for fungus, fog, or any large foreign objects, there shouldn't be any.
- Check the picture enhancement settings on your M9, who knows you've accidentally set your saturation to -2390817 and sharpness to -21019?
- Check your monitor's display resolution and screen size, as well as colour bit depth and etc.
- Finally, do some experimentation with checking for focusing issues or etc.

hiya, im suspecting flare?

I agree using a test chart is the way to go. Print one here: http://focustestchart.com/focus21.pdf

Camera sensor cant be off, most likely your focusing (use magnifier to help), flare (a hood), shake (tripod) or haze, or scratches on your lens (no help )

possibly focus shift right? thought this is a problem uniquely that of some cosina made sonnar lenses with blue dot? i'm assuming this is the current cron?

Go outside in midday bright sun, put lens at infinity and F8-16 and shoot buildings far far away.

a. Building far away not sharp: Sensor misalignment or Sensor and Lens mis-alignment

b. Building far away sharp: Rangefinder is off

Whao!!!

Sorry bro! But IF building sharp = RF off??? meaning my M9 is spoilt??!!??:bheart:

meaning the RF needs adjustments.. Not necessarily mean you WHOLE M9 is broken..

Bro I presume your M9 and lens is under warranty right? Go back to the dealer you bought from and give them the set to test. They will be the best people to tell you. Otherwise you can meet up with fellow Rfers during meet up session and ask them to test for you. Don't worry too much. M9s don't spoil so easily. On and off all rangefinders will need adjustments and so do the lenses.
