Based on your picture I think you should sell the lenses you own now then buy both new lenses. After a while you might want to upgrade more to 24-105 or 24-70 or 70-200. :thumbsup:

A lot of time the lens is poor thing, always get the blame for unsatisfactory photos. The quality of photos many times are due to the user. IF you can have people taking great shots with kit lens, I don't see why there is a need to think that, okay my shots are bad so i'm gonna get a 17-55 to replace my kit lens. The 18-200 is a pretty good lens, and its especially useful when u travel, where u can go both wide and long while not needing to change lens which can be really troublesome. I believe there quite a number of people who likes the 18-200 alot.

A lot of times, the quality depends on how you compose, how u expose your shots and also whether u focus correctly. You can have a shot of a person, then you don't focus your subject, go and focus on something else, say a banner. Of course, it will be not satisfactory.

A "better" lens don't make you look more pro, or take better pictures.

Well said. I would personally recommend getting a good flash instead. I was a user of 18-200 previously on crop. Great lens to use. I only use the 17-55 at night or evenings(low light). Hardly use the macro that I have. So would recommend u renting one instead if u need it.

I actually sold my 18-200 to buy 17-55. regretted it and went back to buy the 18-200 while keeping the 17-55. my 2 cents worth.

18-200 is a good lens. borrowed a 500D + 18-200 from a family member for a trip to Germany/Netherlands and it was my only lens. sharp enough for me (if not, I'll increase sharpening in the Picture-Style settings or during PP). this was also the lens i was almost going to buy with my 550D except that the family member didn't want me to buy the exact same lens (since I could always borrow the 18-200)...
