Yeap I'm experiencing what you've said, and I'm also afraid it'll spoil my filter screw as it drops and I gotta twist it back in..any idea when such mass sale will be held again?

Go to the section called "Mass Sales", there are a few advertisers selling 3rd party lens hoods. Check the Canon model number first and make sure you order the correct one for your Canon lens.

Note that sometimes, like in my case, you can have two different hoods for the same lens. My 17-40 functions as a UWA on my full frame and I use the hood Canon provided, which is very shallow. I also got a third party hood meant for the 17-55, which is deeper, when I use the lens on my crop body, where it functions as a normal zoom.
