Nice photos! I really like the ornate ghost pipefish photos as they're such weird critters.

Our publisher has some macro HiDef video footage of pygmy seahorses.....you still photogs are lucky, just try keeping a huge HiDef videocam with humongous HID lights perfectly still on a pygmy seahorse in a strong current with surge all the while fully zoomed in and with a +2 diopter macro lens in place.

And do this while not making the viewer who is sitting perfectly still on the couch get seasick. ;)

Glad you like it.
You would love Lembeh Straits in Manado Indonesia if you like critter/muck diving.

Till I can afford that Nikon D-200 with a Subal or Sea and Sea housing and dual strobes while on a college budget, I'll just have to settle for my little point and shoot.

But, I like diving tropical with photogs as I too like to stop and stare endlessly at the little macro critters. Sure, the big critter high voltage stuff is magnificent, but then so is a shy Oxymonacanthus longirostrus or or a hidden Periclimenes tenuipes!

Hi Sarah! Welcome to this forum situated in this tiny island that nobody knows where/heard of & no chewing gum is allowed :-)

Depending on your expectations, you can get quite good pictures even from a simple point & shoot with manual functions & a strobe, sometimes even up to 8R. Good enough for a holiday-recreational diver. Many of the divers here do not use DSLR & are not professional photographers, we just enjoy diving & take photos along the dive.

You do not always need a DSLR; but since you work in a magazine then perhaps the standards/requirements are much higher.
