Ir is Infrared photography. The IR filter is installed on top of the sensor with the hot mirror taken out. Read the sticky on top you will know more.

The 18-135 looks like a very good lens for IR. The images you captured are very sharp. Have you tried this lens with the R72 type filters ?? Thanks.

Yes had tried it with R72, it is good lens for IR and cheap.
