Leica Rangefinder

Last time I was at the Camera Hospital (Sunshine Plaza @ Selegie Rd) there was a M6 body that was available at $1800.
There is also a M3 available, loved its classic handling and viewfinder, but can't remember how much.

But getting a decent priced Leica lens might be a problem though.
Couldn't find a clean Summicron 50/2 below $1k or a 35/2 below $1.4k

voightlander have good 50mm and 35mm equivalents..

quite comparable.. LL did a review.

get both at the same time mate. Get a 40mm summicron C. Its got the bokeh of a pre-asph 35mm, the sharpness of a 50 'cron and the price of a used voigtlander lens. What else can u ask for

That's quite a good price..

There's a shop at Peninsula 2nd floor... Quoted me $2600 on a M6 black...

Btw is it possible to get Black lacquer painted top n bass plates for the m6ttl?

Or you can just buy LHSA top and bottom plates from Ebay. Problem is, your other levers need to be spray painted types to. Which is where Don from DAG comes in.

It's all about money. For that look, you might as well just buy a M6 LHSA TTL. :) May be a cheaper option than retrofitting.

glad to share that i have today, gotten the leica m6 classic and a 50mm f2.0 summicron lens.
thank you one and all for all tips and pointers.
these have been very useful and educational for me.
cheers,

Is your M6 classic a 0.85 black? If so, you've gotten yourself a keeper! But that being said, all Leicas are nice.

mine is a classic chrome m6 (non TTL).
as a recent leica owner, i can only say that the feeling of actually owning one is close to euphoric... a sweet, sweet camera than does revamp substantially the way you feel about cameras and phototaking in general.
so those who are thinking abt getting one - don't wait.
its not just a hobby, it can potentially become a love affair.
