Main drawback: With backlighting, it tends to purple frindge more than other Leica M lenses!
I therefore do not use my Noctilux f0.95 as a general purpose lens (and it weights more than my 90mm APO asph) unless only doing b&w shots.
Not to mention that it is a bitch to use under strong sunlight @ f0.95 as it oftens needs shutter speed faster than 1/4000 sec. Both my 21mm & 35mm Summiluxs do not encounter these situations even their are just a stop slower. A 3 stop ND filter is required under these situations.
However it offers that 20mm razor thin DOV + 46deg angle of view (similar to our human eyes)which makes it a perfect portrait lens....in my opinion.

U really need a pair of steady hands and eyes to get the focus spot on... Cams with LiveView and Focus Peaking helps...

Absolutely agree. An EVF over RF is God sent for precise focusing especially on protrait shots!

I have experimented with different setup and so far the following works very well for me handholding, focusing shooting the Noctilux on the Leica Monochrom with the following accessories:
1) Leica Hand Grip for M8/M9
2) Match Technical Thumbs-up CSEP-1S (www.matchtechnical.com)
3) MS Optical 1.35x magnifier
4) Artisan Obscura Soft Release (www.artisanobscura.com)
5) B+W 106 Neutral Density Filter
I am not saying that you will need the above in order to shoot the Noctilux, a lot of folks I know use the Noctilux without these accessories. Just that for me, I find these work well for me personally shooting the Noctilux on the MM just to share.

I would agree that your listed items 1,3&5 are absolutely necessary aids on MM & M9.
