I asked myself the same question when i created the thread here

In the end, i chose the m7 because of aperture priority. And what a joy it has been to use. Pics just come out beautiful. I just set it to A mode and adjust the depth of field accordingly so i don't exceed the max shutterspeed of 1/1000s. It's probably the easiest introduction to rangefinder photography.

I went into rural Japan with it and came away really impressed.

But i'll be selling my m7 soon because i've fallen in love with medium format film, so the 35mm camera will have to go, while the contax and Bessa III remain.

great pics!

you've just gave me another reason to get the M7...

maybe my trusted M6 has gotta go...

i don't need M8 any more.. i don't need M8 anymore... M9?:cry::cry::cry::cry:.. oh no....

Haha if you want my m7, pm me cuz i'm letting it go. It's in stunning condition and has only seen action during the japan trip. Other than that, in my dry cabinet already.

Sad to let it go, but medium format has captured my love and i dont want to have 7000 dollars worth of leica stuff sitting in my cabinet not being used. Doesn't make sense. Comes with uncle Gommy's 300 dollar luigi half leather case.

I think the joy in owning a leica is the ability to shoot film. Getting an m8 or m9 takes away the beauty of shooting a leica.

Plonk in a roll of film, crank it, wind it up, train your ability to prefocus even before shooting by judging the distance between you and the subject, play around with the different types of film. grade it lower to overexpose, push it higher. The effects are totally awesome, and digital will never get you such colors.

I shot kodak's ektar 100 in Japan and the colors were just stunning.

No point shooting digital for leica... defeats the purpose of photography purity. haha

now i am contemplating to not sell my MP to finance the M9.. its practically mint... darn..

can always go back to a good condition M6 later if you get the film bug back...:)
