As long has the original receipt, I think no problem.

aiya, buy used cam like dat one lah. I really understand. that's why I when first found the near-range OOF problem, I did not even go back to the shop. I knew he was not aware of it.

Just one last question for the previous owner(s) - would Schmidt accept warranty repair when the warranty card was not mailed within 14 days of purchase? (original purchase invoice is available though.)

TIA.

I only have one M8 & it's still with me. I'm not ex-owner. I think I know the lineage if it was CooperS's;)

thanks for starting this thread. I finally know how to repair my M6 TTL alignment.:) bot it very mint yet hv same problem. instructions are easy to follow but need finnesse. woe to those with thick fingers.

no focusing issues all along though so didn't think too much abt it.

now puzzling shud I tackle my ZI ? read perfect alignment is done with 3 screws under the hotshoe.

Hi,

This rf alignment is an issue that came up with many of the earlier M8s. I only noticed this after using the M8 for about 3 months when I was shooting at f1.4 and f2.0. I carried out some tests using my M3. I focused on a object about 20 feet away and transferred the same lens to my M8, with camera on tripod. I could clearly see a double image with the M8. But the photo was in focus! When I refocused using the M8, the photo was out of focus. I did with with my 21mm, 35 f2.0 and f1.4, 50 f1.0 and 90 f2.0.

Since the M8 was still under warranty, I sent this back to the factory for adjustment. This is not to say, this did not happen with previous Ms, except with digital, any out of focus area is now easily seen at 100% magnification on an LCD monitor.

bring the M8 to Andrew Chan, Schmid SG. this probblem is not a big deal at all.:)

I was using my M8 in desert like conditions and a whole platoon of dust got between the LCD and the hard translucent cover. I thought it'll be a simple enough procedure to rid it off the dust and maybe seal it up better. Ack. Unfortunately, Schmidt confirmed it'll need to travel to Germany for the procedure and no sealing will be done. I was assured it'll happen again in the future. Not even double sided tape? Come on.

The M8 is like that mistress who is costing too much to maintain, but you can't bear to get rid of her. Not with that body.

What a nice analogy....

Man can't bear to leave her... just to find out one day it finally destroyed him....

Stay with film... :bsmilie:

I've been mulling for a while on the M8. The cost of developing and scanning is killing me on the one hand, but the one thing that stops me from making the plunge for the m8 (aside from its hefty upfront price) is that it seems very 'high maintenance'.

All these issues that have cropped up in the past and still coming really worries me. It seems that owners need to pander to the camera, rather than the other way around.

Shouldn't technology make life easier for us all and not the other way around?
