Leica M8 First Impression

My thing abt M8 is the frame line. On my M6,the frameline I see and snap is what I get on the film but on M8 the pic is slightly bigger than my frame. Than again after a few shots and days of understanding the camera, not much a problem. I find its easier to focus on subjects which are off center compared to RF too.

NorthernLights nice pics, ur 85mm dam poison. Any example with 35mm f1.4??? Dam keen to get also... Got my 50mm becos its my fav focus length.

If you did not bring this up, I would not have noticed too. I was using the 1.4x magnifier on the 28mm framelines and the framelines extended to the edges and I can hardly frame. And when I do frame, now I remember the pic seems larger than the frame. Or the subject is smaller than it actually seen.

What's the reason for this?

In this case, I better remove the 1.4x magnifier when using wides like 28mm. The magnifier is small and prone to getting lost and so expensive (nearly $500)!

I do not have the 85 f1.2L or 35 f1.4L anymore. I find zooms easier to use and the f2.8 of the 24-70L and 70-200f2.8L sufficient. I bought the 28 cron because M8's hi-ISO is known to be very poor.

u used the 1.4x on a 28mm??

dun try anything below 50 for the 1.4X. more suitable for 75 or 90.

hmm.. actually i kinda like the warm cast of this m8... I find it pleasing...

as for the debate... RF have some very exotic lenses to use besides being small.

I think you totally missed the point on Noctilux. Honestly, Im a fan of 85L but a Noct's bokeh is paint-like, not buttery melting.

The lens is flawed but that makes the signature no other lens has... Price wise crazy as well :)

these are fine noctilux signature.

*take note, i'm not a worshiper please...

Tommy !!! My fav in flickr :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Maybe its him that drive the noctilux's price up, pls dun forget about zzj who used to be known as tiny eyes in flickr. :)

Many people talk about how lousy M8's pics and stuff , yet pics from zzj is dam amazing. He has tons of gears and all pics looks great, that tells me it has nothing to do with his gears. Even his diana's pics looks amazing.

Click him out http://flickr.com/photos/zzj

Hope he's going to post his old olympus om 50mm f1.2 pics. Swee:thumbsup:

checked his site...nothing 'special' except his shots are :thumbsup: very very

Check out his amsterdam shots...my dream to shoot like him...He can be an M8 spokesman.

yes hes a great chap too.

I think many shoot with the m8 without post-production. Unlike film, a sensor will be "unbias" therefore colours will be downright flat off the camera.

If you want some REAL colours, shoot film ;)

NorthernLights, u never check out his movie filming set's pics.

He changed style, different from "tiny eyes" because of his status....

Different camera n film but has his signature in the pics. I think these are signs of masters in photography, having own style and trademark. Some goes to Tommy. He don't need to put his name in, his color and b&w stuff can tell its him. Even his RD-1 pics with 15mm CV is amazing.

i'm not a worshiper too.. Just love looking at their pics.. So inspiring and exciting. Hey I left out "boochap" his pics also amazing...

Nordleax,

You are right about zzj's movie set pics.

I also notice many were take with his pentacon and olympus film cams. The key issue here being RF cams in my hands with poor skill.
