Leica iiif repairs

Hi guys, im Kev. Got into photography in end 2009. Been using digital cams since.

Last week, i recieved an old camera which belonged to my father in law. It was passed down by his dad. I opened the leather case and saw it was a leica. Went online n saw it was actually a leica iii with 50mm f1.5 lens. I was clueless bout it. I ve never ever bought a film in my life...

So i downloaded the manual n learnt how to use it. But i realise the shutter is not workin. So i opened the lens n saw the shutter curtain was damaged. I guessed that it s called by that...

I want to get this cam back to workin order. I did some readin n found that ppl go to Chiif... Found out he s a member too. Does he service RF? Where can i find him? Any reccommendations? Thanks in advance guys.

Hi Kev, Leica III is a joy to use...just get it CLA and shutter curtain repair and it will be back into working again...probably for another century...haha

Yes, you should bring the camera down to Chiif Shop and let him have a look...Chi Fei doesn't service but his technician may get it repair for you at very reasonable cost...

I've love such stories of heirlooms being passed down from previous generation. Get a good CLA and never ever sell the camera away!!! Use it to document your future generation, so that when u pass the camera down to your kid, you can tell him how u've acquired this baby.

I ll get it up working again and i ll definitely have a hard but enjoyable time learning to shoot with film... it s a start all over for me as i was neva exposed to film cameras. it ll be my 2011 project! will update this thread on my progress.
