Lavalier mic for extremely noisy room

The Shure SM 11 is probably a one-of-a-kind microphone still in production. What makes it different from any other lav mic out there is that it is a miniature dynamic mic. It is so 'cold' that the onboard mic on your camera may actually sound louder as demonstrated in the video below.
This is far from the best choice for a lav mic if you can help it. But if you are in a terribly noisy environment and if you are able to clip the mic directly below the talent's mouth, the results will as close as you can get to a full size dynamic mic. Best used with the Rode Newshooter XLR tranmitter belt case if you are shooting with DSLR. (Senny users can buy the Senny POP1 XLR belt case )
Provided cable is 1.2m long and connector is XLR.

Interesting, it looks huge! :D From reading some amazon reviews, sounds like you would need to run it with good low-noise preamps to minimize noise as it requires pretty high gain? I guess without trying it, I would probably lean towards a supercardiod lav that will deal with the off axis noise rejection, and depend less on my non-premium preamps heheh

Dynamic lavaliers are few and far in between for a reason, I guess. Not very often one would be forced into a situation to warrant its use. Usually, those situations only arise when the client makes uninformed requests like insisting on walking interviews to be done in noisy, high human traffic situations. But it is a valuable specialty tool for the lone shooter.

Found a field test comparison between the Shure SM11 lavalier with a Tascam DR-40 stereo capsule and AT9904 electret lavalier. Go to 9:35 for rejection test along a country road. Download the video and try noise reduction on your NLE.
