Thanks! Transport costs (esp airfares) aside, Peru and Mexico are not very expensive places to visit. Brazil costs $$$ though! I shot with a 5Dmk2. I used 3 lenses, Zeiss Distagon 21mm, Leica R Summicron 50mm and Leica R Elmarit 90mm. Decided to bite the bullet and eschew my AF/Zoom lenses. See you tomorrow!

57. The El Candelabro geoglyph, about 150+m long. Preserved all these years as it apparently never rains on the Peruvian coast! It is also a mystery how the desert winds have not been able to erase it over time. No one really knows what it means or what it was meant for. (enroute to) Islas Ballestas

58. Birds in V-formation, somewhere near Islas Ballestas, a cluster of islands home to hundreds of thousands of sea birds.

59. Flight on a flimsy Cessna over the Nazca lines. In this photo, you can also see the remarkable contrast between the green agricultural land on one side and desert plains on the other. Nazca

60. The Nazca lines or geoglyphs were etched into the desert plains between 500BC and 500AD. It never rains here, which is why they have survived so many centuries. This one in the photo is known as "The Astronaut". Nazca

61. The most well-known geoglyph of the lot, "The Hummingbird". It is believed that they were messengers between the worlds of men and condors (which are considered to be gods). Nazca

Did you get a mystical feeling when you are there? - maybe I had my build up from doing the Inca Trail, so it was all about Incas for 4D/3N. haha I was in awe how they manage to build a place like that up in a mountain. This was absolutely my favourite place amongst all the sights I went in South America!

Yes, Brazil, cost an arm and leg isn't it? You are still in time to go Carnaval 2012! You should go, it is one great experience!!;)

I stayed overnight in Aguas Calientes and made a second visit to Machupicchu early morning the next day. When I arrived, around 6plus am, the whole place was foggy. It was rubbish weather for taking photos as the light was poor, sky was grey, and all one could see through the fog were bits of rock here and there. However, it was then that I felt the place had stood still in time, quiet, mystical and the serene (very few tourists so early in the day!).

You've been to the Carnival? Got photos to share?

Nice album and thanks for bringing us on ur photo journey.
An interesting destination for a holiday; not seen many albums here focus esp. on Mexico!
