I am up for sunday morning..cant do any other time..promise not to over sleep ;)

Came home today and found my box of Shanghai 100 "Tempered" lid never close properly, questioned everyone in the family and my mum opened the box out of curiosity. Ruining my last 2 sheets inside,

Anyways I've found something interesting
Polaroid Sprintscan 45 film scanner 4x5 large format | eBay

Anyone has experiences with this dedicated 4x5 scanner? I don't think its a flat bed, a quick google search gave some decent reviews

After thinking bout what lualua said during the last Bukit Brown outing; Closer to the demolition date, more shutterbugs would flood the place, thinking of going back this weekend, anyone on?

jon, we can order bnw in bulk at lower price if you want

Ah Hong, I like the thicker film base of FP4+ and arrived at the parameters for sheet film development. Slight difference to 120.
Where to get??

Been digging darkroom stuff... downloading poison....

CPE2 Kit, 2 speed with temperature control- bought it when I was in my late teens.. so about 20 years now, still works!

Durst 5x7 condenser enlarger - This one does your 6x17 negs full frame! - old but still works.... just pop on a bulb....

If there's enough interest, we can do a couple of sessions of development and printing when the darkroom is fully stocked ;)

Jon.... but i find it a bit slow... at 125, take 2/3 stops for your orange/red filter, stop down to f22, a bit for bellow compensation..... nothing left leh! I'd go for HP5 or tri X anytime, somemore at that size, grain is never a problem ;)

You actually have one of these monsters in your storeroom? I have to exploit all my friends to get an Omega from the Bay Area!! Let's see some prints from 4x5!

Joshua, since day one we use loupe to examine negative, right? Does make a lot of difference when you look at it.
Scanning, of course, cover up many things.

Anyway, I shoot using tripod on most shots these days. Rolleiflex only use the 2.8F, the rest seldom take out. Even Fuji 690 III, also sleeping.

The other days the boys were talking about 4X5 setup. I know you have a complete set in your room.
How about 8X10? I remember you talked about it.... 10 years ago?

Is it ok???? Your baby needs some rest.
My kid teenager already so I can go back to wet darkroom.

How on earth you find space in your house to store all these????

Haha Jon... I find it hard to find grain to focus on when printing from 45 negs. Especially when the enlargement is small. 8x10 for example... but i'd have to admit, FP4 is a damn good, all rounder emulsion. I'm a fan of Ilford film and agfa paper.... too bad the latter is long gone... for 8x10, its easy to get the cam and lenses over evil bay but support and workflow is a whole new world..... I did not venture beyond 45.

I'd have full access to a bedroom for all my fishing and photography stuff for at least the next 2 years until my boy takes over... so I'm planning to make full use of it for now.

My enlargers all went to Garlang Guni, long gone. Now I look at 4X5 negatives like looking at slides.
Even if want to print, I am not sure where to find paper. I still have the 8X10 Oriental paper, but expired for how long?

For me, shooting on the tripod makes no diff using ASA100 or ASA400. Even if ASA400 also shoot at ASA200, right?

Grain is a funny thing. If you spend sometime scanning, you know. Remember I started with HP photosmart in 1998, then I gave it to Ah Tan who used the Rolleiflex 2.8E. Remember him?
There are a lot of film that do not respond well to scanning. Kodak is one of them.
But I may be wrong, I did not touch a scanner for over 10 years now.

I thought you gave up Photography for fishing? :dunno: Ok, We are going to Sibu on 10th Dec, can you do it? Barracudas are waiting. :)

I got banned from offshore and foreign land fishing after home affairs read the news of Bro Keith(who was my fishing kaki for some trips) got lost at sea and hasn't been found yet. - so only local shore based fishing for now... haiz

haha well you're the IT savvy one when it comes to these things. I guess in time to come, most of us would not have the luxury of a wet darkroom.... until then we'll miss the smell of stinky fixer... the excitement of seeing the image appear in the smelly tray under a dim red light, and of course the feel of bromide papers....

Wah! Motorised enlarger! Now really makes me feel that I should go make some prints from my 4x5 Durst laborator. I have not made any prints since I bought it.
