Hi, I'm new to 4x5 and not sure of the large format community in Singapore. Are there still many people in singapore using large format?

Where can I find films, develop them? What brand, model, types can I find in Singapore and roughly what price? Really need help for a newbie like me.

Appreciate all your help and a thousand thanks!!!

: )

You can get Kodak EPP off the shelf from Cathay Photo and if you are lucky, sometime Provia 100F too. But their price is expensive, if you are keen to get a few boxes of Provia 100F, PM me.

As for developing, RGB does a good job on 4x5 slide.

Ruby and cathay have some EPP and provia, but they are expensive..

i get my film off Ebay which is alot cheaper, most are freezed expired or near expired film though.

i do my own B&W developing and send to RGB for my slides. $3.99 each for E6 developing.

Thanks for your reply!!!

Other than Ruby and Cathay, it there any other place selling - so sad, so hard to find.

For buying on Ebay and overseas, do you have trouble with film being exposed during shipping? - I'm not sure how safe it is. If I can find different types of film overseas, what are the local shops capability to develop them other than the Provia being mentioned.

For B&W, where to get film - what type? And what equipment and chemicals you use. I'm very keen on B&W.

I'm new to this large format world, really need help in pointing me the right directions. Is there any large format forum or chat-group or club in Singapore?

Thanks once again, yours sincerely,
Khee

I routinely buy films from overseas. Never any problem with fogging.

For B&W, it really depends on what you are doing. I am now using Fuji Acros because it comes in Quickloads. A little more expensive, but a lot easier to use on the road. In Singapore, I tend to use Tri-X (sometimes FP4 and HP5) in film holders, cheaper.

You can get Tri-X from Ron's Camera at Aldephi. The choice of developer is up to you, such as HC 110 or D76 or PMK Pyro or Rodinal etc
