Hi all

I'm looking to buy a laptop for Photoshop editing work and is confused between AVHA / IPS displays.

See this model here: https://www.aftershockpc.com/welcome/Productinner/mx15-pro
(Display Type: 15.6 Inch 144HZ FHD Premium AHVA / IPS Display (1920x1080)

  1. Is this considered IPS panel?

  2. Is this suitable / good enough for photoshop work?

  3. Can anyone recommend a good Windows Laptop with IPS display for Photoshop editing?

Thanks and I hope to receive guidance from fellow ClubSnap members.

IPS Monitor Advantages:

Outstanding color accuracy and consistency
Maximum available viewing angles
Response times sufficient for most users
Virtually eliminates color/contrast shift seen with some VA displays

IPS Monitor Drawbacks:

Below average static contrast ratio
Potential white glow from off-angles when viewing dark content. Usually only an issue with lower-end & off-brand IPS monitors
More motion blur than a TN monitor

IPS Monitor Best Uses:

Color-critical professional applications
Technology enthusiasts
Higher-level business / home use
Gamers who value image quality over response time

Please do your research and due diligence...see with your own eyes but most likely the lighting environment
in showroom or shop is too bright. There are so many models in the market..reviews are helpful but personal
viewing for taste and design is best left to you.;) Best if display is 4k and OLED.( few and expensive) :)

As for laptops, know that IPS display uses more power so battery life or operating time of laptop is crucial
if spending most time editing on it. Whatever fancy name they call their IPS display are just variations.

I don't do much editing work and I use an old slow pc desktop. My way is to always get it right in camera so you spend more time
making photos. Rest assured the links provide many choices and budgets just know that newer laptops have fast and powerful processors
and video chipsets.More important is how much storage space and ram it's got on board for optimum efficiency running your editing software.
One thing to take note is laptops are more reliable, still you have to research to find a cost effective one as most of the brands are asian ones like
Lenovo, Acer, Samsung etc.Not to forget Dell. :)

Generally, you need good color accuracy (check the display specs for conformance to sRGB and/or Adobe RGB)
IPS or AHVA is just different technology to get to the same thing (ie. viewing and colors)

I run LR CC and Photoshop with 120MB, 36MB and 24MB RAW files and my current laptop specs are still adequate :
i5 CPU
16G RAM
x2 256G SSD (one stores the programs, another stores the files for editing)
my laptop also has a stylus capable touch screen, which I directly draw/edit on the screen (personal pref )

So generally, look for specs rather than models, as there are so many out there and each manufacturer will have a few that are suitable.

I would suggest :
i7 CPU
16G ram
256 or 500 SSD
SRGB and/or Adobe RGB accuracy (100% would be best)

Thanks to both One-Eye-Jack & Pinholecom for your very helpful feedback :)
