Earth Signals
U da man! Awesome shot as always from u.
Earth Signals
I had set up for Earth Signals with two cameras. A 5dmk2 with 16-35 for a wide shot (Stefan shot) and a 50d with 24-70 for a zoomed in shot as seen. Although I would have liked the image a little wider but the crop factor and 24mm is just the limit I could go.
I do commend Stefan for finding this angle as I would most probably never have found it myself as I rarely if not ever go there.
For my technique. I do not use hdr software. I do manual blending with luminosity masking. I will shoot a base exposure at 7:30pm and blend in the shadow and highlight details into the image. Slightly technical but you can find it on youtube or google if you want to.
Timelapse for this case would be easier but you'd have to shift through many hundreds of images. I did it the tedious way of being observant and ending up with 150 images of which 55 were used to make the image. 5 were used as a base.
Hope this answers your question.

Thanks guysI understand the theory of it, but can't see myself doing it. I can only do very rudimentary blending to fill in the shadow and highlight as you say to extend the camera's DR, but with no masking. Just never got the hang of it. Thanks for the kind explaination anyways.
Two camera's on tripods shooting the same scene - THAT IS HARDCORE!

thanks! The sheen from the wet bridge really adds texture to the picture. Keep em' pics coming.
Its actually not a new workflow. I just become more meticulous.Your new HDR workflow is supreme yet real. It's called luminosity masking isn't it? I gotta try this new technique when I can. For my pictures I always manually blend exposures together and that's just how it is all along. It's slow, highly tedious, takes alot of trial and error and time. But now been doing it for a long time it'll generally take me around 10 minutes to process them.
