I recently uploaded a special album filled with punggol photos from back in the day when it was still raw. If you are free head over and check it out.

5 hours I heard. This guy's REALLY insane. Love it. It's definitely much better than mine, as the cranes make a complete turn. Should've waited but got to leave early for work the next day and I hadn't had dinner.

haha it's cool that the cranes made an ALMOST complete turn.. but I prefer your framing with more space at the bottom for the light trails at the bottom. I just have to ask... for such long durations I imagine you took images at regular intervals and stacked them in post. The buildings are not going anywhere so no problem, but the colour in the sky will be changing every 5min, how do you guys blend it so nicely?

Hahah, no la I think I like his for me. Really, his cranes make a complete turn which helps alot, now comparing to mine, it kinda lacks that. :( There's this weird feeling that it doesn't feel "complete", if you know what I'm saying. It's like, "ah screw this, I'm going home now, I got more or less what I want" sort of feeling... And I need dinner. hahaha. Nevermind, as long as we enjoy out shoot after a long busy day, it's the best medicine. :D

For me, I shoot after dark when the blur hour is long over, and the night sky is constant. So blending would be easier. For Draken I think he has a different way of doing so, might wanna shed some light on his view on this. ;)

I had set up for Earth Signals with two cameras. A 5dmk2 with 16-35 for a wide shot (Stefan shot) and a 50d with 24-70 for a zoomed in shot as seen. Although I would have liked the image a little wider but the crop factor and 24mm is just the limit I could go.

I do commend Stefan for finding this angle as I would most probably never have found it myself as I rarely if not ever go there.

For my technique. I do not use hdr software. I do manual blending with luminosity masking. I will shoot a base exposure at 7:30pm and blend in the shadow and highlight details into the image. Slightly technical but you can find it on youtube or google if you want to.

Timelapse for this case would be easier but you'd have to shift through many hundreds of images. I did it the tedious way of being observant and ending up with 150 images of which 55 were used to make the image. 5 were used as a base.

Hope this answers your question.
