Singaporean have not gone soft but their grand parents may not be healthy enough to take care of their grand children.
Some Singaporean lost their parent (pass away) before they married.
The infrastructure in SG is not design for people working in shift.
Many of my Singaporean friends have no problem doing shift work if they are able to make proper arrangement to child care.
In every country there is some kind of hardship or even the same hardship. I hope Singapore have not lost the plot on looking after its own.
