Hi Sharps, let me be the first to respond then. If you could please post large so we can clearly see the issues.

The first thing is the most of your shorts are out of focus. You need to get used to focusing a rangefinder and its not easy under low light conditions. Dont worry, it just takes practice, I'm sure you'll get better & better as you use the camera more.

You may also want to buy a magnifier to help you focus. It magnifies the patch in your VF so that its easier. You can get one easily from our friendly neighborhood RF drug dealer located at Excelsior shopping mall.

You mentioned in your other post that there is a "weird line across" I dont see it here, maybe the images are too small.

Exposure-wise and even composition-wise, the parrot shot isnt bad, but it is out of focus.

Do also ask questions so that we can help answer. No one can read your mind.

Looking forward to seeing more

I uploaded the pictures to flickr, how do post it as a bigger pic here?

Dan, thanks for replying
will upload the weird line pic, but 1st, need to post it bigger, hahahha

okay from the flickr interface, click share this, grab the html/bbcode, choose the bbcode option.

then below that you will see some options for size? medium should do. then just copy the whole html code and paste here. voila. :)

is this size ok?
pls refer back to 1st post

These look fine, well done! Nice tones! The one with the dog sleeping is a good catch! Shoot more, post more! Cheers!

dont look like there's anything wrong with the pictures? focus seems okay. exposure also okay (to my eye lah, not the technical zone exposure system stuff cos i dont know nuts about it)

what exactly do u need comment on? composition and subject?

the last picture of the dog is nice. quite symmetrical. i quite like the parrot one too.

any comments also ok

frankly, composition all fake one, all this pics were cropped :P
the colored version really bad, need to learn how to use lightroom

Nice moment captured, nice photo! Yes, I see the line.. does not really bother me.. maybe scanner issue.

Cheers!

thanks alex, but mine is digital.... no scanner issue ler...

Take a shot at a white or grey surface, if the line is there, likely a sensor issue... send camera to see doctor!

any doctor to rekomen?
bought this camera used, so thinking to send it for servicing

Nice, perhaps you should now close this thread and post your pics in the appropriate thread so that everyone can enjoy your photos? Cheers and keep shooting!

Hey Sharps, its pretty good....exposure is alright, composition of course subjective, to me, quite nice, the illusive "line" to me looks like the edge of an object...again you juts need to think about what you want to focus on, like for example, the picture with the 2 chefs should be focussed on the chef not so much on the bowl, but hey, it works, so no big shakes...if you want more comments, ask more questions so we can help specifically....

Banding. Happens with CCD sensors. Usually occurs under low light / back lighting. Your sensor might be a 'not-so-good' copy or one that has been heavy abused.

To capture good colour photographs, you need to understand or at least know the existence of colour theory and harmony. Additionally, the WB on M8/M9/RD-1 isn't worth acknowledging under weird lighting conditions, such as street-lit scenes.

Composition wise, pay attention to the edges. Unlike SLR cameras, the edge isn't terribly well defined and exact (on a side note, most consumer SLRs do not have 100% coverage). The frame lines may be quite faint under poor conditions, but it should still be visible; Pay attention to the edges, see what gets included and excluded. There are no rules to composition, there is no definite way how a picture should look.

Cropping is not illegal. But it is a good to keep in mind to get the 'perfect' picture in camera if possible. This trains your 'eye' for things on the spot, and also minimizes time spent post-processing images.

All the best,
