All SUPER DUPER shots!!! When are you going again ?;p Got to buy your own toilet paper huh ? and the trek...wah, so

Thanks! The Bungalow do provide toilet paper but it's better to bring your own :) Aya, the trek is chicken feet to you haha, anyway if not going to waterfall, one can just shoot outside the bungalow! I'm not sure when John will be planning but this place is very friendly, no need guide. Just find 4-6pax and you are good to go! Cheap some more :)

Day 2 Night Macro. As we had a tired trek in the morning, the night shoot didn't last too long as everyone is tired. Here's some of the find.

#47 Stag Beetle
Stag beetles are a particularly impressive, even fearsome sight. The males of most species sport large, branching jaws that resemble antlers on a deer and give them their name. These jaws are used for fighting and wrestling with other males over territories and food. The females' mandibles are usually less showy and grand. There are around 1,200 species in this beetle family worldwide, with some species reaching a respectable 12cm in length. The larvae of the majority feed on rotting wood.

#51 Flat Bark Bug
These strange flattened bugs, feed on fungus growing on the bark of trees and have the habit of dropping to the ground and disappearing in the leaf litter when disturbed. Indeed, this bug looks as it lichen is growing on its back and would be completely camouflaged against the right background. Insects are famous for their ability to adapt and evolve to exploit every available niche. Some beetles are even known to bore into the lead casings of telephone wiring systems.

Day 03
We decided to have our morning/afternoon shoot at Belian trail. It's a very "wild" trail but nice trail. Not recommended at night though cos there are alot of natural "potholes".

#62 Weevil : you let me go or i pull your friend antenna off!

#64 Mutillidae
Mutillidae are a family of wasps whose wingless females resemble ants. Their common name velvet ant refers to their dense hair which may be red, black, white, silver, blue, or gold. Their bright colours serve as aposematic signals. They are known for their extremely painful sting, facetiously said to be strong enough to kill a cow, hence the common name cow killer or cow ant is applied to some species. Unlike a real ant, they do not have drones, workers, and queens. However, velvet ants do exhibit haplodiploid sex determination similar to other members of Vespoidea (JH Hunt 1999).

The earliest-known velvet ants are specimens from the Dominican Republic preserved in amber some 25 to 40 million years ago.

This is very cute and the weevil is so tiny... which eventually walked away safely. This is well captured

Wow, fantastic show, all the insects and crawler are new to me,
I have not seen many of them, thanks for bringing them here.
And thanks for the effort and time for the super clear sharp view.

Melvyn, great harvest. I was there with John (Ariffin) April last year when I first started photography.
Did not do macro then, was shooting "don't know what" - some frogs, stick insects, birds, orang hutan,.....hahaha.....
Cheers.
