Yes, agreed. But if you're not making money out of your gears, being human, you'll feel frustrated that you money spent suddenly "depreciated" in 3 months.
Well, frankly speaking, i don't know what they did with the 3 cameras in a year think back in the film days, but look at it now, KM hasn't been replacing/upgrading it camera on it's own fast pace... Every maker are replacing their own line up at almost the same pace, with each being pushed by the other to do so...
Rebel 300D appears reign the consumer dslr market, Nikon hit back throw out D70, Canon announce 350D,Nikon Announce D70s, D50... blah blah... blah blah...
And for Point and shoot, it's even worse, some smart alec say, let's put a 2.5 inch LCD on Digital PnS! and announce one with it, and you see all the other makers immediately announce replacements of their 'old PnS' with one that's essentially the same, but has a 2.5 inch screen...
Adobe comes out with a bigger and pricier Creative suite almost every year...
(I thinks Adobe CS2 is like 1.2k? I remembered the old CS was just a little over 1k)
Just buy what you need as many had adviced, and depreciation is a fact, you buy a brand new car, the moment you step it, and key the ignition, some $20,000 propably more goes out the exhaust... I was flipping through the papers, saw the price of the Mazda 3, with some new facy stuff, disc brakes, flip key (is it?), oh and it's almost $20,000 less than what my friend paid for half a year ago without any of these bells and whistles...
Oh, and for my firend's wedding, he hired this phototg, and he's using this 4 mega pixel DSLR, and his images are really good...
So the product depreciation is a fact, cigarette lighters used to cost 50 cents, now I could easily get them for only 20 cents... which then would had only paid for a pack of matches...
And further more due to market pressure, companies will have to push out new designs really fast to remain competitive...
You as the consumer choose what you want, I've adviced 2 of my friends to go for old 3 megapixel pns that cost a little over a hundred after hearing their needs, and they did. Till now they hadn't complain or kill me yet...
p/s: Eos 1D is only 4.15 megapixels...
