oooo thanks... how do you check which generation the waiwai belongs to?

actually, it's not a generation thingy.

my konica panorama is actually a 35mm disposable with a pano frame mask inside. so, u get 2 black bands on the top and bottom of the pic. i can't seem to find any technical details abt my konica, save some obscure reference that it was limited production and no longer available. the website which shows how it can be modded and reloaded is this.

http://www.in-picture.de/outrage/foto/kc17_c/jmv/jmv.htm

if u compare these instructions with the wai wai, they are roughly similar. the only thing is dat for the wai wai, u have to be careful abt the flash capacitor cos it can pack quite a shock.

i think the instructions are roughly similar for fuji cameras. according to camera hackers online, kodak cameras are the toughest to mod cos u have to make some cuttings to the film advance spool. it seems kodak made special film canisters for their disposables, unlike fuji and konica which uses standard film canisters.

i was PMing another CSer. the tricky part is the modding of the film advance wheel (u know... the wheel dat goes click-click when u advance the film 1 frame forward?). if u take the cam apart, u'll find that there's a small tab under dat wheel dat prevents u from going beyond the pre-set number of frames (eg. my konica is 12). so, u need a very sharp knife (i used a swiss army penknife) to slowly trim away the small tab. and to finish it off, i used a small file to file away the excess bits of plastic. u will need either a very small flat-head screwdriver or those spectacles' screwdriver to pry open the plastic casing. patience... lots of patience is need. ;)

have fun!

Sam, you mean the photo only occupies 1 frame, I thought it'll expose in 3 joined frames.

no... it doesn't. sigh... i was sadly mistaken. :(

still, it does take nice pics. once i get my changing bag back fm my fren this weekend, will load a fresh roll of film to try again. meantime, i'll wait till next mth b4 deciding whether to bring in a kompakt from ebay. :)

 think i better remove the battery and wear rubber slippers when i'm modding it :sweatsm:

nice one man!!

how do u correct the 36 exposures thingy since the camera is made to click 27 times only?

if u find a way to remove the click-wheel, u'll see a small tab underneath. just trim dat away and the wheel can go on and on.

the idea is dat once the shutter mechanism reaches the tab, it' suppose to tell the cam dat the film is finished. so, remove it and the shutter will just keep on going. pretty ingenious, actually. :)

think when we get to meet up at a outing....i will bring out..maybe u can show me then :D
bring your tool if u have too

Wai Wai Reloaded Found this video on the Wai Wai REload, you guys may find it useful ;)

Here's one with chinese instruction:Wai Wai Reloaded - Chinese

What are the chances of doing a hybrid with a normal compact? Or make it easier to reload like a normal camera?

much more useful than the instructions i got off the web... and the reloading seems much faster too.

I saw got B mode mod one, go explore the links....

yeah agree... seems easier to reload, don't need a changing bag... just need to stick screwdrivers in certain places.

Actually, you can use 24 exposures film which give 27 frames.

my waiwai just arrived
should i store it in the fridge first because i'll be using it 2 weeks from now? or the dry box is fine?
