Kodak preparing to file for bankruptcy

clubsnap film photographers pool money buy kodak shares?
:D

Aiya, Kodak sell one patent can buy all of Clubsnap and everyone's toy cam lah.

They should still go on for a while. Many US hard disc company stock prices also are traded in the $5 junk category, they are still operating.

I think the problem is that they have already sold off most of the patents.

No yet lah. Still a lot. I know of a patent or trade secret which is asking for a lot of money.

If Kodak goes, only reflects how stupid the management has been.

One would first have to give the incompetent management the boot of course...

Sounds like a top management here in local Singapore. World class system now everyday got problems, jam, safety, problem everyday.

The nice thing is another major foul up again they day after the top management resignation. Most likely there will be a fee hike again to pay the resignation package.
Poor Singaporeans.

Yes, thats usually the case. When Rick Thoman took over the chair at Xerox in 1998, he got payed 20.000 US$ per working day ( usually based on a 6 day working week) , and free private use of the companies Gulfstream. He managed to bring down the shares form 90 US$ to 5 US$ within just 18 month . Xerox appreciated his success so much, that the fired him after this, with a humble 1.5 million US$ per year retirement payment till end of his ( and his wires) life. They never really recovered form this damage.

Got call from a friend in the US.

Looks like KODAK is INDEED COMING TO THE END.

Have to stock up now.

That is indeed really bad news.
Hope it is not infectious and spread to other companies.

The Kodak film business is still very profitable. I will be surprise if the film business doesn't get a buy out. They can still make plenty of money for decades, even cashing in by relaunching some of the old films such as Technical Pan, or HIE! Given how cheap it is to produce films, there's sufficient business for a smaller team.

What they did not mention is their graphic printing side has a big flop.

There is still value in the film business. Some rich Chinese film will just buy over it and continue the formula for another 2-3 decades will be fine for me, no need reinvent better film.

The only thing I would worry be QC.. :x

Why wary? U like to try different method of processing / mix your own chemical, so u can have extra ordinary result from batch to batch. Haha

Unhealthy poison. On side note, I have quite a lot of powder chemical for sales. Some of my test need only few grams for 1L, but the person tells me min quantity is 1/2 kg or more....

Actually I do hope r&d continues on film... So we can enjoy better film... Maybe a film that does not need darkroom ... Or more easy on chemical requirements... Or a combi of film n polaroid... Shoot one get both...

It is called : POLAROID

Hey guys, I am looking at the press release of Kodak below. Nothing suggests that they will kill films, but rather the way they continue to develop film lines will be different. I would think that all Consumer films will be gone in 2 years time (e.g. Ultra MAX series colour negatives) and they will consolidate product lines for films to go along with commercial use of films (look at the current movie industry and the new professional films for photography).

I predict that TMAX, E100VS, E100G, Porta etc will all stay. However, expect less stock and some films may be consolidated (maybe no E100G, no 12/24 exposure etc).

Carefully read the release statement, they use the word "evolution", not "revolution".
