KM 7D vs Sony Alpha

to me, 7D is still a better choice. after using 7D for half a year, i am so used to the convinience of the buttons that when i used 5D/A100, i had to "paused" to think where is the button, or my fingers will be like trying to find a button which does not exist on 5D/A100 while my eyes is at the viewfinder :bsmilie:

It's Sony first DSLR after all; give them some time and wait for their 2nd Generation DSLR, maybe by then they may have sorted out all the short-comings and give us a better DSLR

looking forward to that!

SONY most likely will shift some of the buttons placement and you will be pressing either the wrong button or invisible button again. :bsmilie:

nonono....not that one. is the button where you can do instant MF/AF for a while.

Bro, you can easily use the DMF in the function mode if you require AF/MF ...... even more convenient for A100 if this is what you are talking about ...... then again you may get less "kick" as you have one lesser button to fiddle with ........ :bsmilie:

Look at KM5D and A-100. They remove some buttons and consolidated some functions, which I think is better.

They did improve on the DOF button. On the KM5D it's totally flush to body, when want to use always had a hard time finding where it is. On the A-100, can easily feel and press it.

DMF is a good idea but they should have allow MF in DMF mode even when the AF cannot lock focus. Can be fix by formware if they ever bother to release one. :)

bro, "center focusing square" as in spot-AF mode? using that requires you to half-press or AF lock and then compose your shot before releasing the shutter. otherwise your focus will be in the centre of the lens/ frame hence sometimes this mode is not good for quick shooting. "Wide area" AF might suit your needs better.

nonono........prize recipent of course stand in center. but it still focus on bg rather than foreground.

That's the weirdest thing I've ever heard.. Does this happen on all your lenses?

nope. only my sigma 18-50. but i come to live with it, guess the AF center square is like what some said, larger than it looks.

7D in a class of its own in terms of handling compared to any other digi camera out there, Minolta or not...

Before that there were Dynax 7 and Dynax 9 film... 600si is pretty good too, despite being slightly spartan...

Don't think it's the AF sensor. There are numerous report on the same issue with this lens. Most likely a compatibility issue.

When you say "AF center square is like what some said, larger than it looks", do you mean the actual sensor is larger than the viewfinder center AF square or it's the other way round ?

the sensor is larger than the square we see.

Hi all the Minoltian. I am backed after exploring another system. Almost sold my 7D to the thread started  Luckily didnt.:)

I want to congratulate all those who still own a 7D, is a damm good cam. I only realised it after bought & used "C" system. Now I am fully convinced. Many of u talk abt the button. It is not just that "button" that makes the different. Is the reliability & quality that make the real diff.

But sigh:cry: I sold all my favouraite lenses. anyone got lens to spare pls tell me:)

To bro red_ryder, my advise is still the same, go for a 7D. It will be a legend.
