King Tiger's World War 2 Battlefield Tour (Europe)

Really amazing how the local wants to preserve the place. If in singapore, they would have turned pink or become some pub.

I salute you! Your dedication to your hobby is so admirable. I was once crazy about WWII modelling and stuff. The research and historical bits and pieces were so interesing...but sad to say, other priorities like famiy and kids have now taken over...

You are perfectly legitimate to organise tours for WWII buffs like me...want to consider as a sideline?...then you have excuse to go Europe every year...haha :D:D

Wah, if my 8th bro saw this he sure gonna be jelous. He is a big fan of WWII. Too bad, his wife is not as supportive as yours.
Upz!!!

Interesting presentation of past and present.

i love this shot.....

Thank you Guys.
Appreciate your support.
I am tied down with my work at this moment prior to the incoming holiday.
Please wait as I will update by this weekend. :)

I totally agree with you.
Cathay Building was once the HQ of the Japanese Occupation Army in Singapore but was tear down a few years ago and rebuilt into a new modern shopping cineplex.
Another building in Chinatown used by Japanese Kempetai was also tear down in the 1950/60s.

In Europe, there is a incident happen last year when one of the European government wanna to close down a "not much of attention" and not very significant WWII historical building,
inturn, they receive a massive public outroar among the population.
Soon, petition and protest follows. After much pressure, the government give in.
The local population never forget the horrify of the war.
I will share the story at later stage which related to the battlefield tour.

Thank you Guys.
Yes, I do an intensive reading and reserach for the past 2 years on the history of some of the indviduals combatants (boths Axis and Allies Force),
battle site and their weaponary (tanks, guns and etc).

For the actual battle site, I printed out the copies of World War II photos and bring over to Europe, so that when I was there, I can cross reference the past and present site.

Example as below. (The Tiger tank is locate at the present site of the green color shop on the right)

heard of a famous German Tank Commander Michael Wittmann ? he killed many many Allied tanks with just one Tiger.

How can any serious WWII buff not know the guy? Every modeller wants to build Michael's tiger! cool

Really interesting comparison of the old and present scenes.

And also love to watch war related movies.
The movies give us a better image of the scene of war and what is going on in war history.

26 years ago, in 1984, I purchase a magazine call "War Machine".
This magazine was then advisetisement in TV and sold in major Times bookstore.
Before that, I do not have any knowledge of who is Michael Wittman.

Further reading on the magazine lead me to the knowledge of an elite Tank Ace that exist in modern tank warfare.

Over the years, I began the read more about the man, his tactics and deployment and the tank he use.

Before Michael Wittman was transfer to the Western Front, he is already an elite fighting veteran in the Eastern Front.

You are one fortunate man !

Not many women can put up with such sort of pursuits !
Ok, lets come clean... what did you have to do to persuade her ? :bsmilie::bsmilie::bsmilie:

Michael Wittman was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross and the Oak Leaves for his continued excellence in combat on the Eastern Front.

The Allies do not known of such an elite existence in combat then, and the British will soon know him well, forever.
And his action in combat will become an major case study in military institution world wide.
