Thanks watsup.
This battlefield tour is a new kind of vacation to me and I enjoy it very very much. 100% (lucky for my wife also enjoy)
It is a relax tour and abit of a treasure hunting whereby I look for the past and present site.
My wife also help to do a lookout for me.
When we manage to find the site, it is a sense of accomplishment and excitment.
We look at the surrounding, look at the past photos and see/feel what they have went through more than 65 years ago.
After that, we go for the next treasure hunting.

The church at St.Mere Eglise today
While Pegasus Cafe is the first house to be liberated by the British on D-Day,
Sainte-Mère-Église is the first town liberated by the Americans on D-Day.

On the night of the D-Day, 82nd Airborne parachuted into the area Ste-Mère-Église.
Private John M. Steele's parachute was caught in the steeple of the village church in Ste-Mère-Église, leaving him hanging from its roof-top.
The paratrooper was made famous in the movie, "The Longest Day" who landed in Sainte-Mère-Église.

Private John M. Steele was captured by the Germans, but he managed to escape later to rejoin his division.
Bullet holes are still visible in the church's stone walls today.

This water tower (I do not know what to call it) was use on D-Day to clear building on fire, many townspeople form a bucket brigade to help to put down the fire,
which is also shown in the movie "The Longest Day"
