Wow... this is the most fantastic thread I've seen here at CS. The amount of work done in research, and then going out to the actual sites to take the shots. Congrats KT on this fantastic documentary thread. Will be forwarding the link to my friends whom I know will appreciate the wealth of information here. Looking forward to viewing more and learning more from you here. Two thumbs up!!!! :)

Thanks so much CCx9.
The time taken for the research is tough, to study the exact battle site, the events, map reading and etc,
but somehow it is my interest and dream that help me to achieve. And I am really glad that I did it.
Most important is the support from my wife, without her support, this trip would be impossible.

I will be updating more of the in depth details of the battles events that took place Villers-Bocage and earlier post,
to input the details of each and every individuals elites and battles that took place;
in order to share all the valuable information with all the CSers who enjoy the thread here. :)

May 2010 - This is the site where I am standing, which Michael Wittman's tank was crippled by British 6 pounder anti tank gun in the late morning, after inflicting heavily damage to the British.
Michael Wittman and his crew successfully escaped back to the German lines.

Jun 1944 - After the battle, the crew of Tiger ‘222’ expose a proud body language. They are not towing just any Tiger, they are towing Tiger ‘231’.
This is a special tiger which Michael Wittmann was operating in Villers-Bocage.

For the British, the destruction is enormous on the road.
The losses were high for the 7th Armoured Division.
It lost 378 men, killed, wounded or taken prisoner.
Beside the human losses, a lot of material was lost.
20 Cromwell tanks, 4 Sherman Fireflies, 3 M3A3 Stuart tanks and further of 28 other vehicles like Half Tracks, Universal Carriers, Scout Cars were lost, with the vast majority by Michael Wittmann.

Tiger tank was important for Germany, not only for propaganda use,
but more important as a powerful weapon when use effectively.

Tiger tank would create a powerful psychological effect on Allies during World war II, causing the fear of "Tiger phobia" to Allies tank crews.

Michael Wittmann's lone engagement in the early morning of 13 June at Villers-Bocage has cast a shadow over the British,
and the British 7th Armour Division had to be withdraw from the front line for regroup and refitting.
Michael Wittmann's attack is one of the most amazing engagements in the history of armoured warfare and one of the most devastating single-handed actions of the war.

The attack of "spur of the moment" decision demonstrated Michael Wittmann's rapid grasp of the inherent possibilities in attacking an unprepared enemy,
his courage, tactical; and the technical abilities and valor of his Panzer crew make them a formidable force.
