When I first saw the ad, I thought to myself: "WHOA. Ken Watanabe's a DSLR enthusiast??"

Then I heard the *beep beep!* sounds of the DSLR... :bsmilie:

his daughter is a model fyi.

Don't know why they come out with such an ad. Not bias, Nikon one at least got one black horse and show some specs. In this 7D ad, I am totally lost. Just I know is that Ken Wantanabe (:D ) sitting in a hut, seem quite cool. But if it is cool, in such a remote places got glass window or not? If yes, for such weather, the window will be quite foggy. Then, how suddenly he can know is sunrise and immediately goes out take photo? I don't know what the ad going to show anyway.... gave up after several attempts.

have u seen the ones from nikon with takuya kimura? :bsmilie:

where the lens appear from!?! why is he smelling the camera or kissing it? he must be using manual focus cos it is worrying if u see the object focusing at that speed.

i feel all the ads from either brands are great. they reach out to the targetted audience. consumers recognise and identify with the 2 men. they are household names in japan and equally well known out of japan. they are often featured in magazines because men aspire to be like them and women want to be with men who are like them. thats the strategy to penetrate the consumer market.

don't you get it; most advertisements suck.

Great company, great product, or not, does not influence how creatively impressive its commercials would be, not a single bit.

well actually it does. depends on which advertising company or rather agency they engage hahaha...

Next time you see the bus stop ads for the 7D look closer, you can see that Watanabe is holding a 50D and not a 7D in his hands. :D
Yes, I was at canon service center just now and I need a close look at the 7D poster.
He was indeed holding a 50D. :bsmilie:

Oh my goodness, they even safe the money and effort to do any photoshop on the old photo ;)

dunno why i have this feeling but thats also really how i felt when i read a few threads around here :bsmilie:

duno the ads dont work to great with me... but i suppose its a celebrity so most of the consumer market is like BUY BUY BUY.
i would rather see an ad of micheal yamashita or Paul Henri-Cahier at work instead...

if the idea is celebrity also uses 7D or whatever, at least get one that's more popular locally. I don't think Ken is the most popular actor around here.

That is one of the point , i am thinking that the ad is neither here or there.

Easier said than done. If they are using a completely different celebrity just to appeal solely to the Singaporean market, there will be extra costs involved in getting a new endorsement, filming and production costs. All of it costs a lot more money. Our market isn't that large to be worth an entirely new campaign.

its an international campaign. i rather use a camera he endorse than let's say gurmit singh anyday. especially if gurmit was acting as pck. :thumbsd:

especially if gurmit was acting as pck.
i'd buy any camera that Yellow boots endorses ;-)

because i'm an emotional, irrational, gullible consumer. yeap.

And because of that, i'd probably switch to Nikon since sexy Kimura Takuya fondles those cameras so much. yeap.

Seems like Nikon and Canon are quite confident with their product. So, whatever the ads, they believe that there are still a lot people buy.
and for me, as long as the product is proven good, I don't care the ads. :)

actually, they could have just made it as simple and artistic as the UOB PRVI commercial. So much better at bringing out the appeal of being a photographer.

yeah.. imagine he starts to say "don't "pray" "pray" with the new Canon EOS 7D..

i think it will bring down the image/standard and quality of Canon DSLRs.. :bsmilie:

Don't need specification. They just want us to know 7D is out and expect us to find out our self, unlike consumer camera.

I didn't see the video, only saw the poster.

My first impression was, why is that guy shooting with a sad frown on his face???:dunno:

Oh please, Takuya Kimura is so feminine...yucks:thumbsd:
