Is it advisable to keep a polarising filter on the lens all the time or should it be kept on when it is being used (ie outdoors mainly). Does it have any noticeable effect on the image other than outdoors and reflections?

There's light loss with PL-filters, so if u shoot, u need slower shutter speed

You lose up to 2 stops of light with the C-PL, and some small amount of image degradation (depending on the quality of the C-PL). In a word, NO, only use when necessary.

Second dkw. Depending on the filter, you might get slight image degradation as well as losing up to 2 stops of light.
