Kallang KFC - Your childhood memories

drive thru should always be free. but you should have seen the amt of cars abusing the free carpark there on a park and ride scheme. macdonalds used to be a hot spot for abuse. at 8am, the whole carpark was full while you barely see 5 tables occupied with patrons eating breakfast in there.

that is why kfc locked up the car park after closing to prevent free overnight parking for residence nearby.

Now with food cost rising, they probably have to control free flow drinks. as to why they took away the playground, it really looks like a silly move. Perhaps they are building a big kids corner to separate kids/adults like Mac.

I agree with you - silly. Why remove playground when kids are happy with soft drinks. I mean parents dont bring kids specially for soft drinks, but complimenting them whenever they visit KFC. There are several KFC outlets, but only this one is sentimental, equipment with indoor playground, and serve soft drinks free flow. Now, they are replaced with high chairs, targetting at white collars. I am certain there isnt any space for kids corner unless the building extends.

Anyone remember the time when there were waiters to take your orders at KFC? The one near Gold Hill Plazar (Thomson Road)?

How about the A&W that was near to the old IE, between Bukit Timah and Dunean Road?

In those times, we only have 1 choice - Original, no crispy. Spring chicken is not "spring", can feed a family of 4.

Oh...A&W...root beer float...double float...oh....waffles + ice-cream......

Together with MD, these 2 joints are the only rare places where parking is FREE.

At MD, they have already fixed up the barrier and the OG Box, which means that parking charges is imminent.

And KFC looses out to MD - internet access.

I saw some chaps going online while I was there, no sure if they are using their own ISP. It really sucks if no more free parking is offered especially drive all the way there.

For those who like the alfresco smoking area, yes its still there.

The best MacDonalds is at West Coast! Simply the most happening place to chat, study, cultivate love, gossip, date, etc

As for KFC, the kallang is the best, but now, i cant find a replacement.

A&W, Wendys, Arbys, and simi burger etc all gone case liao...

But the most high class fast food is at Seah Street Deli (easily $30 per pax)... The Elvis burger was one hell of a cow to chew on.:bsmilie:

Above all, i really hope HEART ATTACK grill lands in Singapore. I can guarantee tourists people from Indonesia, Malaysia and neighboring islanders will wait patiently to be seated and wheeled out when done! (Maybe the lao aunties at GH may protest at these waitress stealing some limelight) But who cares! Heart Attack grill to bring Singaporean men some clean excitement to an otherwise barren playground!

If HA Grill comes to SG, it will go the way of Hooters. Mostly foriegn waitresses who appear to be scrowly and half-dead dragging their feet most of the time.

Indeed...

I tried hooters in the west, it was like wow:bigeyes: experience!
Then i tried hooters at clark quey/boat quey.... it was like what the... :what:

and the sizes do differ greatly too... oopse...

Maybe its asian values to be reserved even when the job requires a bubbly fun personality... its just a fun job and they are paid to dressed that way.

I missed colonel burger, cheap and tasty...

I remember that KFC Kallang was the first chicken joint in Singapore...or maybe I was too young to know anything :D

And there was A&W opposite...and I do not believe there were macdonalds then
