K5 stock

Should I wait for the ltd version? Apart from being ltd, will it be a better camera than the standard one and do I have to pay alot more? Just the beginning and so much headaches already.

There would be a price difference but it will be a nice looking camera as compared to the standard black

The silver one is exactly the same, except for the additional specification of making your wallet lighter than the regular K-5.

You should not wait if you want one. Better reserve one before it is all gone...The grip is different from the regular K-5. The price difference is quite reasonable from what i know. Fengwei and Ben all ready to buy one when it arrived.:bsmilie:

To me DSLRs don't have limited edition.
They become yesterdays junk in a few years. :bsmilie:

Regarding the K-5 silver edition, will it come with the golden ratio focussing screen?

It looks pretty useful!

Anyone knows if there is any third party screen maker with something similar?

Well, I was wondering the same question previously. But I came to the conclusion that "Limited Edition" means what it says - that it is produced in limited quantities.

Whether the price will increase or decrease in a few years time is another matter.

What it means is that it allows you to differentiate from the crowd, and less chance of randomly meeting someone with the same item. Sort of like fashion.

In 10 years the camera may be obsolete, but it will still be 1 of xxx produced so it will be (sort of) unique.

I realized this when I started collecting old computers and calculators recently. I have the Sinclair ZX81 and HP 41-CV calculators on the way to me now. If you check eBay, the HP-C series of calculators are selling at about US$100-300 dollars, and the actual price in 1980 dollars was US$200-300. Although taking into account inflation NPV is different, but I am still paying US$100 for a 30 year old calculator! Why? Because HP doesn't make them anymore....

For those who are getting one - enjoy!

Certainly to each his own on this :)

I play PS3 games and they become 'junk' after completion (ok, I remember the classics forever). To my friend, he buys limited edition versions, and likes them a lot. Certainly lots of room for difference around us :)

i even remember the old nintendo classics :bsmilie: i even found the old roms and re-played some of them on emulator some years back. its still great

i think the distinction is that consumers care about the price and to a lesser extent, the value. collectors care about the value and to a lesser extent, the price. :)

why else would some of us be hunting for "cult classics" lenses? :)

Can I know what is the price of K-5 currently in Singapore?

Remember once in PF, I think KatzEye can custom make the golden ratio screen.

Just checked with SLRR, they have only two K5 in stock, but they don't know when they'll receive the silver edition. Price as mentioned by Felixcat, $1712.

Given how ridiculously popular it is, it seems unlikely that the K-5 will drop in price anytime soon.

The K-5 may have had some some teething issues but I am so glad I pre ordered the moment it went up for sale.

Yeap wise choice on your part. The K-5 cost a bomb in Australia here (hundreds more than in Singapore), even those on Ebay aren't cheap, regret not buying it back in Singapore. Now i will have to get my girlfriend to get one for me if possible during the IT fair before she visits me.

I find the price of K-5 in Singapore is hard to beat, prices in US or Australia are like hundreds more expensive. Wonder why?
