K-x with 18-200 lens

What I mean having everything sharp is over-rated. Sometimes soft is better.

Ya, me most probably getting the dual kit lens as well...

Hi,

I am seriousely conseridering to get K-x as my first DSLR. Understand the package comes with 18-55 and 55-200 lens. Was thinking is there a 18-200 so that I do not have to change lens.

I am very new in photography. Intend to bring the cam for travel and thought it would be convenient not having to change lens.

Hope to get advise from friendly people here.

Thank you.

I bought the dual lens as a start. As lazy as i am, I find changing lens a bit troublesome, especially if you are already sweating from head to toe with ppl walking around you. You worry about missing the shot, ppl knock you while you holding the lens, dust, etc.

Sometime, I missed a good shot just because I do not have the sufficient range.

So one day, I sold my 55-300 and got a 18-250 tamron and never look back. It is such a versatile lens for me,at least. No more worries of dust into camera, which it happened before after only 2 months in having my KX as I changes the lens a lot.

Some might say pentax 55-300 is a better lens but I find the Tamron is good enough for me as I am a newbie and frankly i don know how to judge a good and bad iq yet.

Some also says that if wants convienent than buy a compact with good zoom. Each to his own really.

To me as a newbie, my objective is to learn how to shoot and frame photo in a reasonable stage first before I go into more "professional" lens.

I never miss a shot since! Still keeping the 18-55 though, just in case something happens to my 18-250 lens during outings.

Frankly, no matter how good is your photo or lens, there will always be negative comments from others, unless you are already a well known photographer than ppl will always say yr photo the best even got flaws, we must remember that all our eyes are all different. Soft picture to you, just good for me....

So long you love yr photo, it will be the no.1 spot in your world and thats good enough.

wow nice picture you had there.

thks, i took hell a lot of shoots b4 deciding on the best..

Hopefully after much practise, I can lower down the shots taken for the best results:cool:

Thank you for the advise. Will give it a thought and make my own decision.

You can get a lot of mileage if you are prepared to utilize a lens and the focal lengths you have at hand. Here are some taken in one of the outings with a Cosina 24mm that costs less than $100. It can still be versatile enough.

bought my dual kit(18-55 and 55-300) at SLR for $1140 or $1040, cannot remember already.

Bought it this year before the chinese new year.

The 18-250 bought right in the buy and sell section from another user, used less than 2 months according to him, for $300. No warranty.
