Pre-order=You order the blue/red/white dual kit and get the kit a few weeks later.The kit will be body+18-55(Depending on which colour you ordered) and the kit-telezoom will be black in colour

and within the email he told that can pre-order the telephoto lens with the colored kit..

haha why? they're nice what. esp Ray. but their behaviour is somehow rather odd i must say.

exactly. i went there the other day with my friend. was served by this fat chubby guy. and my friend happen to be liked me, a newbie. so he asked some qns which i think this guy lookdown on us. he was liked not in the mood to entertain, and rather he asked us to go to the net to read more about the kx .
my friend was actually loaded with the cash to buy the dslr on that day but he was putoff by the fat guy's attitude ;(

i think u cant blame them for doing so..
as current trend is that more and more "posers" are buying dslrs juz because they think it makes them look pro and can take better pictures than pns..
one thing is that dslrs are really getting a lot cheaper nowadays..
but the knowledge to truly utilize a dslr never really changed much, although many functions are now optimised for those upgraded from pns..
imho, i think it's at least better than those shops in certain tech mall which will say tonnes of flowery marketing gimmicks and terminologies to lure potential buyers to get things that they dont actually need..

cos no point going to the shop to find out... u can't test it anyway because of the shutter count. at most touch touch the body only to test the size and feel. dun misunderstand... pple not looking down on you. they are honest and approachable, but the customer also must do their homework and not expect THIS shop to spoon feed them and tell them sweet words.
there are other shops that do that if u prefer.i'm a sucker for service too... but i dun like to pay too much premium for good service cos its just another way of saying u got conned :sweat:

as far as i understand, without offence too,i believe in this society,especially Spore (where we have the GEM program) customer service is part of the package in a sales,isnt it? if a shop expects the customer to know everything about the item they wants to buy, then the shop should just have the boss sitting there to take the item and collect $. dont even need sales exec there to entertain and sell.

For electronic items especially, YOU must do your homework or your head will really get CHOPPED . . .
If you go into a shop and tell the salesperson, i want to buy a Pentax camera, but the salesman say, Pentax no good lousy, buy Canikon. then buy filter at $50, buy memory card at $60, buy charger at $80, buy this good wide angle lens (actually an add on filter to make you think you are getting a wide angle) at $180, when that thing only costs $40 . . .
This will happen If you do not know what you are getting into . . .
Do not expect most shops sales people to know their stuff . . . You as the consumer still must do your homework.
haha. this serves as a good advise i believe. oh ya, i read about filters. what are filters for? sorry TS that i hijack this thread abit. because i know of the dslr body, lens, flash, tripod , mm card. but whats the hood and filter for?

Nowadays, we use UV filters to protect the front element of your lens.
Hood is to block stray light hitting the lens from the sides.

agreed.. if you step in, tell them you want k-x, what do they recommend for k-x, they'll tell you maybe get a bag, eneloop batt and quickcharger, tripod, flash, filter, depending on what you actually use your k-x for, and quote you the prices straight without any 'hidden' increase.
but if you step in, tell them you want kx, what is it good for, why not k7, the iso setting at which level best, the AF speed, the write speed? no offense, but if i was there, i'd say, google 'pentax kx', or dpreview.com
