In that case I'd try Sony tech support. Tell them about your problem with the serial number and see if they can help you.

how do i counter that?

Do you manage to solve this issues? It seem to be hanging in the air.

I did a google search and in one of the VJforum there is a similar question, and solution to your problem. It is at http://www.vjforums.com/showthread.php?t=21149

The search keyword I used for google search is S2IS with vegas

Hope this help.

From what I could find out, the S2 IS uses a motion jpeg codec (MJPEG). If you download the codec pack at the link below, it should have at least one MJPEG codec inside. I would not advise installing everything in the pack, even though it is tempting. Just install the codec(s) you need, otherwise there is a risk of conflict with existing codecs on your system.

thanks for the link but i am not sure which 1 is the required codec.

Did you download the codec pack? (Click on the big bold letters that say "Download ACE Mega CodecS"). When you run the installer you get a chance to select which codecs are installed. You need one of the MJPEG codecs for the Canon video.

ok i ahve dowloaded the installer. theres lots of codecs to choose now.Which 1 is the 1 for the canon Movie VIdoe? which 1 should i choose? :dunno:

thanks for your help:sticktong

Please lah read my post. I already said you need one of the MJPEG codecs. :what:

Actually, there are so many codecs inside the pack that I don't remember what's there, so you'll need to look and see for yourself. Definitely there is at least one MJPEG codec there. (If you want to ask whether a specific codec is OK, please let me know which one you are considering.)

cause i dont really see the mjpeg codec word. and theres so many categorys. custom, ordinary etc.... confused...

How about taking up fishing as a hobby? :)

Seriously, I remember there were 2 or 3 MJPEG codecs in that pack the last time I downloaded it.

OK, now I've downloaded the file to confirm. I can see Paradigm Matrix M-JPEG codec, Forward M-JPEG Video codec, LEAD MCMP-MJPEG codec, Mainconcept M-JPEG Video CoDec, Matrox Software MJPEG Video CoDec, and then I stopped looking before I even reached Morgan or Pegasus.

To be honest, some of these codecs may be demo versions or have other problems, however there is definitely a way to get a working solution for the Canon video files (I did it once before for a colleague who has a similar camera). But if you can't even FIND an MJPEG codec in this pack then I have doubts whether you are going to be able to hack it. Sorry to be so blunt. But anyway I think you didn't pay for your copy of Vegas to begin with so at least you haven't lost money.

i have installed every codecs in that , ticked everything, yet the vid still does not show up in the vegas but the sound is still there

LOL jaergersing.

Maybe a MARLIN mounted with a CODEC....:) :)

Have you check on the vjforums.com. There is a similar question asked by one of the member there and seem that it had solve his problem. You may want to check with their suggestion.

Sorry I do not personally used the Canon digital camera and can't test it out for you. Important is to asked from those who had successfully edited their S2IS footage using vegas or other editing software. Your problem is because you do not have the correct video codec.

from my previous post:

Actually the codec pack has at least one suitable codec inside. The real problem is that he does not know what he is doing.

Here's a serious offer - If he buys a legit version of Vegas or Movie Studio I will make sure he can edit his footage.

yeah yeah its fake how many times do u want to repeat it.

i will find the specfic codec by myself online.
