Very.... Now i'm trying to look for a MB-D200.
The D100 was a pretty good cam as well. Almost chose it when i bought the D70 back then.

i chosed d70 because of battery life actually. and 6mp is enough already. btw s5pro raw file is many times more than the raw file in d70;)

I never really used the raw format for my D70. Hated the way photoshop opened it.
Thou i love the raw file i used to get on a canon 10D.
That i have to admit was a beautiful camera...

I just joined the dark side....
Now the question is should i keep my old trusty D70...
Or should i let it RIP?

my guess!! u just got it from MS color?? cos i saw around 7 to 8 new
set arrived this afternoon,,haha just guessing la!
care to share how much you bought..me thinking of getting back this DARK HORSE
again!

Got it from parisilk... At holland V
$1100 for it...
Had the set reserved before hand. So today he called me and said stocks are in and i had to collect it today. Any later and it would have gone to someone else.

Goodness. I paid 1188 a mth+ ago. No room for bargain from MS.

See if i can get rebate from Florence on the extra I paid.

Now to find someone or a shop that actually has the MB-D200...
Sad to say its almost 1/4 the price of the cam... Damn....
Anyone tried the photix brand or something for the grip?

I was considering that... But i have no confidence in doing it myself.

Steven Lee of Camera Hospital does the conversion for a reasonable price. Many D70 users I know still keep theirs for IR.

Nevermind my fren,i stay with 2nd hand S5pro for 6mth plus last yr.
guess what i lost $600 after i decided to get a FX body.
so you guys are the most lucky batch to gain from it..enjoy:lovegrin:

Yes. :)

The D70 makes a great IR camera.

I'm starting to see the light... haha
Maybe that battery grip for the S5 can wait a while.
Gota give my D70 a purpose to remain in the dry cabinet

As a matter of fact, I know there is a group of IR shooter in Singapore who hunts around specially for used D70s, converts them to IR DSLRs, and resells them as D70 IR to its new members. Since you already have one, might as well keep it.

I shall take your advice and do just that then... Provided the conversion isn't gona cost a bomb lol...
Don't think i feel good selling it as well as its really been used. Shutter count close to 30k. Even the delete button is giving way.

It costs about S$350 for the conversion. It is a hardware conversion. Meaning, some internal parts are replaced or changed. An IR filter is placed over the CCD.

IR images are different. It is a whole new way of looking at different subjects.

damn.... Now thats much more then what i was expecting. Judging from the diy conversion, i was thinking it'd be like under a hundred. The cam is only worth 350 lol... In that case i'll get the battery grip first. Then try to figure out how to diy. From what i saw its basically just changing a filter from the ccd.

There goes my hopes for reviving the d70...
Will just have to wait till my wallet recovers first

Consider this: S$1,100 is less than half of what I paid for my S5 Pro when I bought mine in March 2007.

Even then, I already knew this camera can perform (with past experience from both the S2 Pro and S3 Pro). I forked out S$2,550 without hesitation. It is a decision I never regret.
