Just bought..Zenit E and Kodak Retinette 1A

Just came back from the UK on a school trip and i managed to find these two old cameras for sale at oxfam(kinda like our salvation army) at a really good price. The Zenit E was 6 pounds and the retinette was 7 pounds. I'm not sure whether both are working yet. though on my first check, both cameras look good. eg, shutter closes well, aperture blades close properly.. I was wondering whether anybody would know where I could go to get these cameras cleaned and serviced. I know there are threads on CLA'ing already. But would these shops be able to clean different kinds of cameras? Or do certain shops only certain brands? Anybody owns these two cameras? could you share a little bit on how well these cameras perform? thanks!

Should be aropund $120-$150 for a general CLA.

Check it yourself.

Does both cameras have a working shutter?
IF yes? Check the lens. If lens is clean and clear.. Run a roll.
If picture turn out fine? U save $$$.. If not? Than u send it from cleaning.
It better this way. Just my 2 cent.

Kodak Retinette series has good name! Sure a keeper! Good luck..

thanks for your help! i've just ran a roll of film through my retinette. will develop it this saturday. hopefully everything turns out right.

I haven't had the time to develop my photos yet, hopefully by this week. Just a random comment, I just went to the BnS forum and saw that XA2's are selling above 100 bucks. I cant believe it! I saw so many XA2's for like 7pounds with the flash in Oxfam. Damn. I should have bought the whole lot and sold it here... Could have made some money...
