trains that work. REGARDLESS of the weather (Melbourne trains break down every day. in summer, a lot of lines are cancelled because the heat expands the tracks, making them unsafe to travel on.)

trains that come on time. sort of (Melbourne trains, while they stick to a time table, do not have an interval of every 5 minutes. if they decide to come in 2 minutes early, you may be stuck at the station for the next 45 minutes).

trains that are new, that do not smell of pee, that have no visible graffiti on the external surfaces, and seats that do not have holes in them (self explanatory).

have you tried taking a train at 44 degrees where the air conditioner is coughing out, like a church mice, cold air to you in spasms? not fun at all. :(

seriously, Singapore has it good when compared to other countries and their public transport.

This does not look like what I experience some 15 years ago - but 15 years is a long time so I guess the equipment did not get upgraded or at least repaired for 15 years

can send the photos taken to stomp :bsmilie:

Now you know why Photography is NOT allowed in the Singapore stations :bsmilie::sweatsm:

yeah right and I see so many tourist doing that in orchard, somerset, dhoby ghaut, clarke quay, city hall... I did take picture of my parents when they come over here for holiday in mrt station too (the one with nicer art wall). Security never stop me.

It's very hard to control 3rd world elements.

The above scene shows a complete failure to perform crowd control at the station level. If the train arrives, people can trample on one another when the panic mode overrides. They have a maximum crowd quota and yet they flaunt the rules.

Well, having deployed 500 engineers and shift crews to catch people eating and drinking on MRT, they probably had slackened in their very own duties.

I wonder if LTA can issue a $10million fine on SMRT then and then re-issue them out as rebates to commuters.

There is absolutely nothing that the men in the streets ca do about such inefficiency. If you write to ST, they will not publish. If you post to Stomp, SMRT could not be bother as they monopolize this market.

There will be survey that tell people that Singaporean are a happy lot. Out of 4.5M people, they surveyed only 1558 and came to that conclusion. BTW, who are these 1558 people who took that survey? LOL:bsmilie:

So we got to live with it. The only time I saw the MRT trains have places to sit during peak hours was during the last major International events held in Suntec. I could not believe my eyes when I see trains comes in empty during peak hours and the frequency was real short.
