Jumpship Advice needed - N brand to Sony a7r

That's the flawed mindset that both photographers and clients have. A camera is an image capturing device. No one said it must look like what it looks like now, or that u need a mirror inside it. Current dslr design are based on film slr, where they do not have any other means of composing an image other than an OVF design where u can see TTL. What about now? Articulated screen or touch screen, or even wifi connectivity, is no longer a gimmick in this digital age. These are features that allows u to do things u couldn't otherwise. To bash them and say they look unprofessional, is not moving forward. Look at the time when AF lenses started out, MF purists laughed at them. What about now? we can't deny it changed photography.
We all know that but it doesn't matter, we don't make cameras. Just look at Sony, they go backwards. No current model has a touch screen anymore.

I got a a7R, coming from Canon xD series, I find that I use the articulated screen quite often actually. Definitely a plus in my book.

Hi Mamypoko,

What about noise? How did it fare compared to your previous canon?

A5000 using touch screen.

I'm guessing it is to selectively cut cost and cater to different market segments.

If you were to ask me, touchscreen is not that essential for evf cameras, because u might accidentally nose it. Of course, there are options to off this feature. No doubt touchscreen is useful sometimes, but imo still not as useful as having a tilt screen.

Em1 has everything, which is why it is so expensive given that it has a small sensor.

If nex6, a6000, a7 were to have touchscreen, it wouldnt cost as cheap as it is now...

They can't carry the cost further to the customer anyway, the product will cost the same but their profit margin will be a few $ lower and that's a big deal for them at the number they order.

Oic. Thanks. I always tot the A5k have it. lol

touch screen spot focus for tracking would be a nice feature for video though. Am on the a7r and wish it they had it sometimes , manual focusing on these flyby wire e-mount lenses can get a little tricky at times even with focus peaking.

Pure touch screen camera. Looks like a samsung camera but is genuine leica

its got a nex 3n sensor in it =) interface very intuitive though , seems much faster than the usual clunky touchscreen stuff implemented...still prefer a good mix of touch screen and physical buttons like the good old nex 5n =)

Thats how it works these days. Ppl no longer look for "best" performing goods but look for what suits them the most. In other words ppl are looking for "customised" products.
