MS is MSColor at AMK. You can check with Andy...in fact everyone there gives me a cash price when I ask them. They actually show me the faxed/email they get from canon and then start calculating the price to sell to me. Something like....$cost - 2% (cash sales) + 7% gst - dealers bonus = cash price to me...:thumbsup:

Finally I got my L Lens too. The 70-200 F4L IS version. I tried to get from MS but both outlet out of stock. I settle my desire with CP Marine and also took advantage of the 12 mths 0% payment. Not a bad idea so that don;t have to fork out one big sum at one go! Can imagine if I have bought the non is version as with my shaky hand I can never get a good shot without blurr image.

But one thing i don;t understand is that why there must be a switch to determine the focus distance. At 1.2m to infinity and also 3m to infinity , therefore if the switch is set to 3m and I actually focus something less than that I realised that I can never get it to focus and have to switch to 1.2m range. So troublesome leh is this normal. Stabiliser also come with 2 mode. Mode 1 and 2. Mode 1 for all direction compensation and Mode 2 for either vertical or horizontal compensation. To me Mode 1 seems more effective leh can really see the image get stabilise.

The stabilising mechanism also seem relatively audioable and as per the manual description it actually operate for another 2 sec after u take the shot !

One hand I had another lens that is the Canon 17-55 IS F2.8. I had sold the rest of my non Canon lens and it seem that the price really make a difference here as I compare the colour reproduction from there lens to other non canon lens it really make a world difference.

the focus limiter is to make focusing faster.

Mode 2 stabiliser is useful in situation such as panning shots. e.g when panning a moving car, your aiming point is moving horizontally with the car, so you would want stabiliser only for the vertical plane. But if you feel more comfortable with mode 1, then stay with it. If there's enough light and subject is not moving, you can try off the IS and save battery

Have been doing ICT for 2 weeks and no chances of seeing my L lenses for 2 weeks and now I just take them out for a good cleaning...

Btw, does FTM means that the focus motor wont be worn out should you attempt to MF in AF focus? Due to the close proximity of the zoom ring to the body, i've mistakely moved the focus ring instead a few times already..kinda scared of minor motor damages :sweat:

Just turn it to your hearts content when using one-shot mode. The motor won't be worn out at all.

No, i mean before half clicking the shutter yet - the manual states FTM will take effect after u half click the shutter

What that means is that I use my thumb to press the * button for focusing, so the shutter button is used only for exposure lock and then triggering the shutter. By using this technique, I can use AF (via * button) or MF (via FTM focusing ring tuning) while holding down the shutter, preparing to depress it fully for a capture.

Actually, what im asking is that would there be minor motor damage if i manual focus in AF mode without FTM activated? I've moved it accidentally sometime before half clicking(default setting) because i mistook it for the zoom and hence wanna know.

Yes it will work but AF will not. Do note the aperture will become f/8 too.
