hmm, cause ever sice i got the 70-200 f2.8 non-is i have improved my hand shake wahhah, thats why i'm thinking if i should get the L, hmm maybe also due to recently the bad rainy weather i've been having (saving for a 1D haha), cause i would worry less with a weather sealed lens haha.... hmm but like also waste $$ ... damm the L virus ...

haha.. 40D so new~~ 17-55mm is gd.. sell them all, sure lose money.. very sian.. i am planning for 1D n use my current body as a back up cam during assignments..

Yeah... Now is a gd time to buy the 1D or 1Ds mk1... Saw someone selling 1Ds mk1 for S$3800/-, quite well maintainence...

Don't get the 1D/s MK1 now already...the low light capabilities is really bad. Not sure if CSC still maintain the parts. Get the 1D/sMKII at least. They are quite cheap now also.

@ least get the mark II better, the noise control is much better than the mark I. =)

Just join the L family today with a 70-200mm f/4L USM. Bought it at CP @ $999

WHAT?!?!?! They quoted me $1000 before CNY!!!!! @#@#$^*&&

1 dollar only. LOL!

Anyway I am mounting my EF 70-200mm f/4L USM on a 40D.

Just want to ask is it ok to mount the tripod on my 40D or do I really have to buy the lens mount?

U mean tripod mount/collar?? When i first got my 70-200 f/4 earlier last year, i made it a point to buy the tripod mount and it's better to mount it this way to be safer and ease stresses on the lens mounts on both lens and camera body.

I see but it is quite expensive for a collar right? Can I do it without the collar? Will it have any long term effect?

Honestly speaking, i seldom use the tripod mount cos usually i mount my other lenses on my tripod. The collar is just to make it look nicer. The one i have is the first version and i got it from Canon directly some time back for $147 including GST (then was 5%). Now i think u can't buy from Canon directly already and only the version II is selling for around $210.

What long term effect u referring to?

Hi guys,

As in will it damage the lens thread? Any thinkings of letting go of your collar? :)

The tripod mount is mounted to the lens body at the rear part near the lens mount so what damages will it cause to the thread? Unless u anyhow twist and turn your filter or overtightened the filter.

Sorry bro, i've no plans of letting go of the collar.

ah bro, I mean without the collar, just mount the lens to my 40D and my 40D to my own tripod, will it cause any damage to the thread in the long run? Particullaly concerned about the threads on the lend\s end and my camera.
