Hey guys.. wondering if this is the right place to post this question. Anyway, here it goes..

I recently bought a Nikon D300s with John316 and the sales person actually told that I do not have to do any filling or online submission of warranty status with Nikon itself or Tamron, they would deal with it or something. And If by any chance if there's anything wrong with the lens or the camera, bring it back to the shop and they would deal with it. Problem is when I got back home and check both my Tamron lens box and the Nikon box, none have its warranty card in it. Is it cause they took it so they could send it for me or something? I'm wondering if this is the usual routine of doing it? Or should I get my warranty card back from them? Helpp :dunno:
 

likely to be a grey set(parallel import) if you paid a lower than normal price for the D300s.

If you did not pay a lower than normal price and they did not mention grey set, please make sure you ger back the warranty cards.
 

for warranty card, shouldnt there be a Customer Copy?
 

For Nikon products, though you don't have to send in the warranty, you should have a copy of the warranty record with the model no. and serial no. and the name of Nikon Singapore Pte Ltd imprinted on it as the Distributor. This document identifies the set as a locally warrantied set and you would need this together with your purchase receipt when you send the set in for servicing.
 

know the odd thing...although there is a lot of marketing on how tough higher end slr are, in the end still 1 year warranty standard.
 

you better check with them again, as i bought the body and lens from John316...all came with warranty card.....
 

They usually don't chop your warranty card and ask you to play with the camera for a week and if there is a problem, they will do a 1-to-1 exchange. Never heard that they provide warranty registration for their customers.

Did you fill out the warranty card with your personal information? If not, I don't think they can register for you.

Three possibilities:
- the warranty card was misplaced either by Nikon or John3:16
- they indeed provide warranty registration for customers
- the camera is a gray set and therefore no warranty from Nikon
 

Don't need to worry, just call them and ask. John3:16 is a reputable shop, they will be most helpful to answer your quries. :)

for nikon : go to their website and register their products and you will enjoyed additional 3 months warranty on body
for tamron : no need to send register card, just produced the warranty card and shop issued receipt should you need to send in for repair

cannot call, they don pick up one. Just dont worry, email them, and go back to the shop if needed.
 

Call Sam's HP just after closing hours. That way you may be able to talk to him directly.
 

I didn't pay for any lower price of whatsoever. This is my 2nd time purchasing from John 3:16, I believe if they're selling a grey set to me, they will tell in the first place even before I made the payment.

I've tried calling the shop but like some have said, they don't pick up calls... ugh I guess I have to send them a email.

well...it's not tat they don't pick up calls, but rather they r too busy.

i feel that to just say they don't pick up calls makes them out to be like avoidin ur calls....

I dropped by John 3:16 today as I was in the area...

Apparently TS's warranty card is still in the shop. Staff probably packed the items wrongly. TS should make another visit to the shop to get the card

TS gone missing liao...anyway i don't remember john 3.16 got sell grey sets one.

that happened to me too. when i got the E30 and 12-60 lens from them, the warranty card inside the box has a different serial for the lens. sure thing I checked the warranty card.
 

Never had any issue buying from John3:16, gold class reputation.

That said how can a reputable shop do that ? Huh.... So can they be thrusted or not? One more thing I want to ask all of you all, John 3:16 allows you to try lenses and bodies right? How do you know that the piece that you have been trying has not been used by other people? Quite scary in my opinion!!!
